I am not a detailer, but I'd love some advice from those of you who are. I have an '02 black Honda VTX 1800 motorcycle. She is my pride and joy. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with keeping her looking her best. I don't have all of the tools at hand that you do, so I hand wash her and hand wax her. I bought it used, but very clean, but it has some swirl marks in the paint. So my question is this...

1) what product can I use to get the best, deepest, wettest shine on my black paint job? Remember... I'm doing this by hand.

2) what is the best chrome pollish?

Thanks for all of the help. I'm sure that with your help, I'll have her looking new again in no time.

Welcome to DC.

Swirl marks: Tough job to remove by hand. I have used Meguiar's #9 and it is lots of work by hand. I have heard tha Poorboy's swirl removal products are much easier to use by hand. :dunno

1: Lots of choices. For a one step that will hide some swirls and look good, it's hard to beat Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. I have been very happy with Klasse AIO topped with 4 Star UPP, but that's not one step.

2: For whatever reason, Mother's chrome polish seems to be the one I always use. I don't know if it is the best, but it seems pretty good to me.
