now i get to buy a windshield

my own boss
While doing a 1998 325i, i found some glue residue dripping from the rear view mirror (about a four inch run going down the windshield) and of course i was gonna take care of it. The next thing I know the whole mirror (plus a sizeable chunk of glass) is in my lap, i swear I barely touched it. Now all of the evidence pointed at a previous mirror incident where some hack made a quick fix, but the customers said it "has never fallen off before...never been in a shop etc...so i get to buy a new windshield. :ticked. at least there is a happy ending to this one. The customers loved my work (100$ tip), bought a 250$ gift certificate for their friends, and made an appointment for their monster suburban (350$) to get cleaned next week. I also called my glass guy and worked out a trade( he is only gonna pay a 100$ when i do his nasty work van in a month). I have only had my shop open for 2.5 months and this is my first "uh oh!" situation, i hope that my continued honesty w/ my customers pays the same dividends in the future.

It worked out for you in the end . It sounds like somebody did a quick fix on the car and the guy didn't know about it . Do you have Insureance ?
