After the people here were so gracious and answered all my questions about the polishing process, I thought it safe to pose another question.
I spent my summer living on an island and my car picked up TONS of sand. After the summer, I vacuumed out the mats and carpet, several times actually, but each time I shook out the mats, more sand would still come out. They are a parchment color and the whole carpeted upholstry (seats are leather) is looking dingy and I know that sand is still embeded.
What should I do to clean the carpet and mats in a way that isn't further driving the dirt and sand into the carpet? I was reading up on the woolite and brush technique, then wet vacuuming up the excess, but I think that would still leave sand in as you are driving the sand further in the fibers with the brush.
Suggestions?
