Now a surprise

Yeah, Bush was tough enough to let Iran get the centrifuges. Bush was tough enough to look into Putin's eyes and see his soul. Bush was tough enough to get the tax cuts for his friends and keep them in spite of running record breaking deficits. Bush was tough enough to send other people to fight then let his party say we can't take care of them because it would cost too much. Bush was tough enough to clear brush with Rice while not doing anything to get justice for the men killed on the Cole. Bush was tough enough look a reporter who asked him about Bin Laden and say, "To tell you the truth, I don't spend that much time thinking about him."

Tough is what you'll do to yourself some sacrifice you'll make to help someone else. Mean is what you'll do to someone else to help yourself. Republicans always think they're being tough when they're just being mean. For example: Does Christie look like a guy who's tough?

Well said!

Well, since someone quoted him, I got to see his reply.

Why is there always deflection, when someone says an ugly truth?

Well, this guy did this, and that guy did that.................................. I guess that makes it ok then.

My response was to a baseless claim that President Obama has no "stones" because he won't send other people to fight when there's no good reason for it. Really, does anyone think sending US troops to Eastern Europe unilaterally is a good idea? Bush had the "stones" to invade Iraq - which worked out really well for about two weeks - because the military did what it was supposed to do, then went to hell in a hand basket because the Bush administration had no idea what to do about keeping control of the situation. Not to mention the arguments for the invasion being lies made up by Cheney and the lot - not based on what our intelligence services were telling them.

There's a big difference between real courage and being willing to just throw military force at every problem.

After being at a SAC B-52 base during my Military days and being a first Russian missile strike target I would be very uneasy with a radical country that can accumulate nuclear weapons. Especially when they call for "Death to America". Now I am not concerned about the past when nuclear weapons are involved but I am with the present and the decisions being made for now and the future. I do not really care how Iran deals with their own country and they can live like kings or slop in the mud like pigs but when you start threatening the country I live in that is another story. If anyone here actually has compassion for a country that wants to wipe them off the Earth I think they need to pack their bags and relocate to that place. I did not spend my Military time defending people that think we are a bad country.

Amen

I didn't enlist to spend 6 years of active duty from 1970 - 1976 in the military to be invited to leave the country I served. There's a big difference between being critical of failed policies that rely too heavily on force, that don't take into account that we don't have to make enemies of every country, and not caring about America.

The whole country of Iran did not chat "Death to America" and there are a lot of people there who would and will choose a western lifestyle when they get the chance. There is a big group in Iran who would love to have a friendly relationship with the US. A country as great as America should be able to take history into account, and be able to work with those with whom we have differences, and be able to move forward in a way that makes life better for everyone involved.

If we attack them, kill many number of civilians, and give an edge to one religious sect they will they will welcome us as liberators and set up western style democracy as we were told in Iraq? 8-)

First Iranian fighter jets over Syria alongside Russian bombers

A series of videos apparently leaked by the Russian Defense Ministry reveal the presence of Iranian F-14 and MiG -29 fighters in Syrian skies for the first time. They were shown by “The Aviationist,” Italian magazine, escorting heavy Russian bombers, including the Tupolev TU-160, the heaviest, fastest and most destructive bomber ever built, on missions no more than 150 km from Israel’s northern border.

The ageing F-14s, built in the 1970s by American aviation giant Grumman, were originally sold to Iran when the Shah was in power and taken over by the reorganized Iranian air force after the 1979 Islamic revolution. Upgraded many times, the F-14s now feature state-of-the-art avionics, weapons and navigation systems, procured byTehran despite the strict UN embargo on their sale to the Islamic Republic.

Dozens of these upgraded warplanes, upgraded with intelligence-collection and tracking systems, have begun operating in Syrian air space near the Israeli border, under the pretense of escorting the Russian bombers. Iranian eyes in the sky are therefore studying the frontier area and gather valuable intelligence on Israel’s air defenses. Normally, if Iranian warplanes had turned up in Syrian air space, the Israeli Air Force would have fought them off and shot them down, but by flying alongside Russian bombers they are protecting themselves against Israeli action....................

The US used to be very happy to sell jets and tanks to anyone with the money to buy them. Now getting the parts to fix the jets and tanks, that was an entirely different story. We ended the "Desert Storm" part of the war quickly in part because Saddam's tanks were broken and were just stuck in the sand. There is more than one way to keep an "ally" from using weapons against us.

Yep

But Iran is getting all replacement parts now somehow

No surprise. We also learned Turkey was involved with ISIS finances. Given ISIS sources of revenue we know they have plenty of help from countries. I suspect some we do not want to talk about because they are allies.
