Now a surprise

well, we'll just have to do an inspection after the 3week appeal period if iran agrees, that'll show em we're not playing around. yep, they're in trouble now...

We can write a "strongly worded letter".

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Iran negotiated the agreement after sanctions put in place by President Obama. Do any of you guys remember Cheney calling Clinton, "sanction crazy"? He did, and the Bush administration not only took their biggest enemy - Iraq - off the table but let them build all those centrifuges you guys are worried about now.

Every slowdown or even set back isn't a catastrophe and we don't need to be so easily scared.

Let me see now, 1979 Iran hostage crisis, Iran burning American flag, Iran stating Death to America. Iran with a Nuclear Bomb/Missle. What could go wrong.

Edit: I'm not scared, but I am pissed

Heh heh, IMO nobody "let" Iran do anything. Just like nobody "lets" Putin get away with anything. Whatcha gonna do? Oh, yeah...right. Nah, we don't do that sort of thing ;)

Well, OK...from one perspective Israel "let" Iran build the centrifuges, but the good ol' International Community doesn't want the Israelies attacking Iran over such stuff. Or over *anything*, by the looks of it.

Well, some on the left think we deserve it, or they really don't mean it (the death to America stuff)

Iran has stopped dismantling nuclear centrifuges - senior official

They mean everything they do or say. To this day I can still see the Marines with blindfolds be humiliated coming out of the Embassy. A day that will live in infamy in my mind.

We always have the right to use military options when necessary but we should not jump to start bombing at this point. We should not repeat the same impatience with Saddam because someone wanted to thump their chest at the expense of many lives and trillions of dollars. We have enough unrest in the mid-east at this point.

For a historical perspective, please note that we were the ones supporting the Shah of Iran and the people revolted against him that led to replacement government being anti-US and ending up with the hostage situation. We then supported Iraq despite all Saddam's known issues. This is how you make friends and enemies.

Do you know who installed the Shah in 1952?

After the Shah fell, the United States did what was called the "tilt to Iraq" and the Iran/Iraq war started. The United States thought it would be a good idea because the Shah's military was based on US weapons. Everyone who talked about that war said it would be over in no more than 6 months because Iran needed US munitions and spare parts. Iran would essentially run out of supplies and Iran would be disarmed. Eight years later they were still fighting. Iraq was using gas against them and getting satellite info from us about Iranian troop movements so they could deploy those weapons effectively. Where do you think Iran got the munitions to keep going? That was what arms for hostages was really about. The hostages were freed just as Reagan took over and weapons started landing in Iran in March. Some of that C4 was used in Lebanon to kill our Marines.

The Iran/Iraq war ended when Iraq started putting mines in the Persian Gulf, threatening world oil supplies.

Iraq remained an enemy of Iran until President Bush invaded and allowed people sympathetic to Iran to take over. Two thirds of Iraq's population is the same kind of Muslims as Iran.

Clinton, according to Cheney, was sanction happy and when he left office there were no known centrifuges in Iran. The centrifuges you guys are all worried about were acquired and put into use while George W. Bush was President but strangely, I don't remember any of this hand wringing and sabre rattling then.

The reason we know they've stopped is because we have inspectors on the ground. Without the agreement we wouldn't and it would be much easier for Iran to pursue a nuclear weapons program.

You guys should be careful about calling people sheeple when you're so easily stampeded.

I'm tired of us being the world's police and Israels only "friend". Sell all of those idiots arms and let them keep fighting each other like they have been doing for centuries, step out of the region and negotiate with what is left of the winner. We keep pissing them off trying to force our version of Democracy down their throats. Who died and made us king of the world? All we do is give them an enemy they can all get together and hate. We wear the nickname "The Great Satan" very well. All this for cheap oil.

If you hadn't noticed, when we are weak and leave a vacuum, other entities come in.

BTW, when the nuclear deal went through, people in Iran were painting the American flag on their faces and celebrating. This deal and the lifting of sanctions is the biggest threat to conservatives in Iran since the revolution. They've been blaming the hardships of the people on the US and sanctions. As the sanctions go away and people's expectations rise, the Ayatollahs are going to have to meet those expectations. I have no confidence in their ability to do that but I have a lot of confidence in the ability of the Iranian people to get rid of them when they don't.

HA !!!

O ain't got the stones. The whole world knows that. Russia - Ukraine, North Korea, China-building new islands.

He is weak and spineless, our allies know they can't count on us, and our enemies know they can count on us.
