Nov. Entry- ~VW BUG~

This was my first time detailing a car that was not my own in about two years. I realized after seeing this car for the first time that not everyone takes care of their vehicles properly. This bug is owned by a senior in high school. My dad works with her mom and her mom really wanted it to "Shine" before her daughter went off to college. So i told my dad that i would give her a deal since he knew her. My dad also told me over the phone that the car wasn't in to bad of shape. WRONG!!!! When i first looked at it i thought that someone had tried to polish the car with a brillo pad. It had that worst swirl marks i have ever seen on a car. There were chips everywhere. Scratches, dents, faded areas....etc. I had my work cut out for me. So i got to work.

1. Washed the car with Meguiars gold class wash.

2. Clay bar'd the entire car.

3. Used Meguiars #83 with cutting pad on speed 6 with Porter Cable. Multiple times on entire car. (#83 is really hard to buff off of paint. Use very little and work thoroughly. It did a great job on the swirls though.)

(some of the scratches need touch up work. They are really deep.)

4. Used Meguiars NXT wax with polishing pad on speed 3-5.

(I love NXT. Very easy to apply and to buff off and does an outstanding job.)

5. Used Simple green to clean wheels. Used Quick detailer to polish wheels.

6. Used Meguiars Shine on all exterior plastic, vinyl, and rubber parts.

7. Used Meguiars S-Dressing on tires.

8. Used Bondo Glass cleaner on windows.

I did the exterior only. The total time involved was about 5 hours. That was with a friend helping. The 2 pads i used were toast. Overall it came out really good. The parents were impressed. They were impressed enough that after a couple days of having it back they asked if i would detail the exterior of their 34 foot motor home.
