Not thrilled with DG#251

Finally Applied DG251 to the GCV tires.. Definitely ready to purchase some Perl.

I cleaned the tires last week and got rained out, so I cleaned them again using Eagle1 All Wheel/Tire Cleaner and my Quickie long-handle nylon brush (yellow bristles) and air dried w/ a MF for any pooled or collected water. I applied the 251 with an E1 foam tire applicator and that's where the problems began. 251 is runny; the consistency was that of 2% milk. It caught great on the ridged portions of the sidewalls but on the smooth it ran like crazy. So I kept running the applicator back and forth trying to maintain even coverage. I also had to run the corner over the outer ridge to get even coverage. Idk of it's because I had to keep adding product before drying, but the shine is extreme!

I first thought, "Maybe it's the tire", because before I knew what I was doing I used a lot of the aerosol foam Armor all tire clean and shine. But even on the new tire that has not had any dressing the problem was present. On the final tire I decided to try Mother's B2B TR to see what would happen (on the other never-dressed tire). Similar in terms of struggling to cover evenly, but more of a satin finish. I'm wondering if the 251 just isn't cut out for smooth surfaces. Any tips/suggestions?

I'll aasume 251 is a smaller size of 253 which I use all the time without issue. I spray the tire liberally and spread it around with;

Carrand Brush & Shine Tire Dressing Applicators - 2 Pack

After a minute or two I go back and buff with an MF. I love the new tire look it provides. Lasts a long while too. I've often thought about trying something more expensive but then figured, what's the point?
I think I'll get a gallon next.

With 251 you need to apply thin. If it is running that's too much product.

I apply it with a eagle1 tire sponge, two sprays(if 251 is in the small finger spray bottle) to prime and one spray after for each tire. I swipe till there is no white residue. Wait to dry then apply a second coat if I want more gloss
