Not that impressed with Optibond

I recently used Optibond for the first time and I wasn't all that impressed. I read some really good reviews on teh product but I don't think it's as good as z-16. I do like a shinier look so I applied two coats, after one drive you could hardly tell there was product on the tires. Anyone else dissappointed?

Yes. Doesn't last long, so I switched to Meguiars ASD.
 
The problem with Opti-Bond is that it doesn't look good for the first time. First time you have to completely strip and clean the tire. Then apply one layer of OB. Next week, wash the the tires with gentle water and soap. Get an old towel and clean the tires to remove dirt and such. And apply another layer of OB. Then you will start seeing the difference. It looked best after the 3rd week.



But of course, everytime you wash the tires, it's going to strip off the OB because it is a water-based product. So you would have to reapply, but that's not a problem for a detail enthusist.

But it is for a professional who doesn't see the same car that often.
 
I have used it twice on my car and I really like it. Makes the tires look very clean, I just have to figure out what the dillution ratio is if you're just putting it in a spray bottle and not a compressed air bottle.
 
OPT sent me a giant sample bottle of OB with my order for OID/OCW/OS though I expected a tiny 1-2 oz sample as most companies send.



I love OB! The "just right" shine and non-greasy formula make it a winner in my book.
