Not satisfied after using a cleaner wax, what pure wax should I top it with?

Well, during the weekend I waxed my car for the first time ever with Mother's Carnuba Cleaner wax. It definately helped the texture of my paint; paint is a lot more smoother than before. But the shine seems to be the same and the light swirls that were there before are almost gone but are noticable at a few angles.. I was wondering whats a very good OTC pure wax I can top it with? I won't hurt anything by not doing these layers back to back right? Or should I put another layer of cleaner wax on top of the current one, or will that break through the current one and just leave me at the same state? Thanks in advance. *i think i can get ahold of #26 wax by meguiars, is that better than the NXT wax? Does the increase in number of layers of wax necessarily mean the deeper the shine?

Hmm, I guess my first question would be what are you really after? Shine is dictated by how well the paint is prepped and cleaned... Without seeing your actual paint condition, it's hard to make an accurate suggestion but I'd definitely try to clean and polish your paint at the very least using "kits" that are for sale OTC like Meg's DC 123, or Mom's Ph123... Then you can play around with an LSP.

Oh, no, layers aren't directly proportional to shine/depth. In some cases it's counter-productive.

i would have suggested you use clay first ..thats where the texture you feel is coming from, it must have bonded contaminents

id also go over it again with cleaner wax, until you are happy with the look of your paint, only at that stage should you seal it

#26 is a nice look, so is nxt ..or go with something like collinte for good durability, and yes two thin coats are better than one

i got #26, i plan to use the scratch x, go over with the cleaner wax, and then top with #26. does this sound like a good plan? would scratch x remove my one layer of cleaner wax?

A good prep its needed. I would clay it 1st and then hit it with some scratch X by hand. I would strongly recommend you getting your self a PC , pads, polisher and compound. This will do it.

Mother's cleaner wax is a very good go-between product after paint cleaning and polishing, but it doesn't have enough punch to be considered as a stand alone lsp.

You can try a good pure carnauba such as p21s or Natty's blue, but you can also try Mother's CG Pure Carnauba Wax to see if you like its results better. I would recommend p21s or any high quality pure carnauba to follow the cleaner wax.

I would try mom's step 3 pure carnuaba wax, i have had good results with it in the past before my addiction. Its a great lsp considering its price and availability. NXT is good to but it has a cleaner in it too so it kinda takes the place of your cleaner wax. #26 is good too but more expensive than the moms

I'd replace the cleaner wax with NXT and then top it with 26 or Collinite. NXT is a great filling wax, I use it for freebies on family/friends cars that I don't want to have to break out the rotary for.
