lessons learned

(1) M83 dries quickly and is hard to buff off - must investigate other products

(2) smaller pads and backing plate would probably have yielded better results

(3) saturated pads are not as effective, must get more pads

(4) M80 is much nicer to work with than 83, and it removes residual 83 that could not be easily buffed off

(5) Polycharged BF is a bugguh to buff off when left to bake in direct sunlight - see after photo 2 - must look into Zaino Clear Seal. Perhaps a microfiber bonnet on PC would have worked.

(6) without fail, rain will fall within 2 days

#83 does dry much faster that #80. This is definitely not recommended by Meguiar's but try adding a couple drops of Optimum polish.

Maybe you can hit the trunk one more time as there are light swirls visible in the 3rd after photo. On the same token watch out for that spoiler. Sometimes underneath the spoiler is dirty so you can wipe it with QD first and then start buffing. If you don't already have one, consider getting a PC guard. It's essentially a layer of foam that you apply to the metal housing on the PC and then you don't have to worry as much about bumping into things. (:P maybe I'm just bias because I really like adding mods to things)

Overall the detail looks really good!:up :up

The car looks good, but it looks like you might need to work in the product a bit more, it seems that there is some "micro" marring, I also sometimes have trouble removing LSP's and getting the product completely off, sometimes it can be quite frustrating because what looks like holograms, is actually just residue...

Overall the car looks incredible, very nice job, keep at it!

Car looks good, Ive used megs polishes in the past and I actually sold them, after reading a lot of reviews about Optimum Polish and Hi Temp Extreme Cut I made the purchase. IT works great with PC, swirls buff out pretty easy. Much easier then M83.

Definitely look into Optimum Polish and Hi Temp Extreme, a lot of people use it here.

m83 is quite different. it is not as easy to use but once you do some research on it and practice it is actually quite compliant.

The biggest problem people seem to have not working 83 into the paint until all the diminishing abrasives have broken down.

do a search on meguiars and you will find quite a bit of info on it.

Paint looks great! Don't let that light marring get you down, even though I have been using the PC for nearly a year, on some paints I just can't get it to 100%. Looks a lot better than it did before, and the next time you polish that remaining marring should come out.

thanks for your support, everyone. And special thanks to autopians that gave me pointers before I started the project. They really helped a lot.

As for the micro marring in some areas... there's a reason there are no photos of the roof :) I was tempted to hit the problem areas again with the 83, but time was not on my side. And I was getting blisters. Plus the orange pads were losing effectiveness after they became saturated. And I'm sure the whole neighborhood was happy when I stopped.

1. Probably either you used too much or used it in the sun on warm paint. DACP is not sun friendly. Work it until it nearly clears out, if it takes a long time, you are using too much, if it clears out quick, the paint is probably too warm. If you work DACP until nearly clear on paint that isn't hot, it is very user friendly, aside from some minor dusting.

2. Maybe, maybe not. What speed did you have the PC at? How much pressure? How fast or slow did you move the PC? Did you work the polishes until nearly clear? Did you use too much polish (which reduces the effectiveness)? Right now, the best thing to do is focus on technique before worrying about smaller pads.

3. Saturated pads usually mean you were using too much polish. You can wash them out. Let them soak in a bucket of soapy water for about 30 minutes, then wring and rinse them out and allow to air dry. You will need to spin them on your hand (I set my PC to 4-5) to get the remaining dust out of them before you use them again.

4. Again, once you get the technique down for #83, the main function of #80 will be to refine the finish. I think you will find they compliment each other nicely.

5. I'd look into Poorboy's EX w/carnauba if you have to work in the sun, it is easy on and off even on hot paint.

6. Definitely! Forecast for tonight in Dallas is mostly clear and BOOM! thunderstorm out of nowhere!
