Hello everyone, my name is Travis. I am currently living in Michigan, and going to Michigan State University. I stumbled across this site a while ago and it has been quite a learning experiance for me. I am really learning a lot from reading the info available on this site. Anyways, I own a 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 (pic 1). The car has a lot of miles, some rust, but overall it's a great little car, plus it is pretty quick :grinno: The paint on the car is actually in pretty good shape as a majority, there are however several areas that I am asking for help from this site on. First are the clear coat spots that I have, they are in several spots on the car, mainly the hood, roof and truck lid/ spoiler (pic 2). Is there any fix for them? The second area is a huge scratch on the passengers front fender, it is so deep that there is rust coming through it (pic 3), that is a bad pic and you can't really see it very well but I hope you can get the idea. The last thing that I wanted to ask you about was the front bumper, I have a lot of scratches and the paint just looks bad (pic 4), is there anything that you could recomend here? I don't have very many supplies yet, in fact I just bought some nxt paste wax and applied that yesterday. I clay bared the car a few weeks ago too. Really I am just trying to scrounge together enough pay to the the Porter Cable polisher that everyone raves about. Well, thanks for the space and I hope that someone here is able to help me!

The 2nd picture with the clearcoat looks like it is failing. If it starts failign there is not really a fix for it, just a way to slow it down (maybe). You will want to get some good sealant or wax which someone will post up cuase i only have one or 2 kinds. The 4th picture you can use some polish to get that out, or atleast most of it.

AS far as the deep scratch, i would get some touch up paint and work with that. You will want to make it stand above the scratch so you can polish off the rest and make it look even.

THe porter Cable is a great tool. You can get the PC7424 or the PC7336. I kind of like the 7336 cause it give me less vibration. I would check Lowes cuase that is where i got mine.

I would try some Poorboys SSR1-2.5 polishes. I just gave those a wach yesterday and they work pretty dam good. I wish my pads didnt fail though. I would also pick up some Klasses All In One polish.

As for wax/sealant. I personally use Zaino on my car. I think it looks pretty good. I also have some P21S carnubba wax that i use on customer cars.

P.S. Do not order anythign until you get more replies.
