Hello everyone...About 6 months ago I notices microscratches on my plastic molding and plastic door handles...I used SMR topped with the AIO/SG Twins...using my cheap ol' orbital waxer and gone...Yeahhh..BUT now they are back 6 months later???..i cant feel them with my fingernail, and at certain angles..looks like my paint is fading due to there being so many!!!...so not sure what they are...Why are they back and how can I get rid of them for good..I guess SMR just filled em' in for 6 months..I have attached the pix to show you the trouble spots...although you may not be able to see the issue from the photo..any suggestions?..thanks a bunch..Original post w/photo

Lance, if may want to try Menzerna IP to remove the scratches. I have had success with 1Z PP using a yellow pad. Hope this helps.

SMR type polishes are a total waste of time for removing anything more than a haze from a more agressive polish. Try using a real polish and then get back to us...

So you're saying that somthing like Meguiars Pro line, Swirl Free Polish is a waste of time? I would have to disagree, since I just tried it again, and it worked a little bit better than before. It would be alot better if I would have done some serious prep for those horrid swirls.

If I'm thinking about something else, forgive me.

Sounds to me like they may be a bit too deep for SMR alone.

Why don't you hit that particular spot with DACP applied with a LC orange pad (light cut), follow up with an SMR to remove residual haze and then re-apply AIO + SG, BTW I would then P21S for that exta gloss:D

If DACP can't get it out, you may need something more abrasive.

The suggestion of Menzerna sounds like a good one, although I'm not sure that it is aggressive enough for your application. I have also heard the menzerna is better applied by rotary? :nixweiss

A better photo of the scratches could also help ;)

Good luck

You'll need to repost your photo; I deleted the other thread since you posted this one (I did so before I noticed your link was to the original thread rather than straight to a photo; sorry 'bout that).

lpandroc- Be careful polishing plastic parts. The paint on them is often a little more fragile than that on metal body panels. A friend of ours has clearcoat failure on her plastic moldings from where someone removed marring (and too much clear in the process). There might be worse ideas than just "filling" them every six months...but I'll second the 1Z Paint Polish recommendation.
