No touching glass or paint

Do you guys ever have passengers who refuse to close the door without putting fingerprints on either the glass or the paint? Someone on LegacyGT.com came up with a great idea. Just print this out and hang it from the glove box so that passengers will get the point.

LOL I'm going to see if I can improve on that idea and perhaps create overlays for the airbag warnings on the visor. Hanging a piece of paper out of my glove box isn't the best idea in the world, but it is a move in the right direction.

hahaha! i prefer to not even use the handle myself. i like to close form the door jamb! worse is trying to give driections on getting in and out of the car. they always scuff the doors inner plastic panel with their feet and also the back of the seat! grrr! i have one rule! no kids under 15 in my car or grownups over 40! they just wont understand

Hilarious. I have to take it one step further and not let anyone touch any paint on the inside. They cannot put their arms on the center console or the door arm rest. You can only put your arm up on the vinyl near the window.. but no touching the window. :gun_banda

In that vehicle I am surprised you even allow passengers. Very cool and custom.

I'd like to ask people to take their shoes off before entering the car too, but I think that is going too far. I think I'll print up a book of passenger ettiquete that they can read while they are sitting at the bus stop after losing their ride privleges for touching my car too much. lol

I think the graphic is great and would love to see a poster form for the garage! That graphic incorporated on the visor would be much better than those airbag warnings.

I can relate about the no shoes in the car preference. I generally volunteer to remove my shoes before entering someone else's car ( might get a few raised eyebrows in those cases) or home unless it seems like it might be a hazard to my health ;) It's how I would hope others would do for me as well.

Keep us up to date if you tweak the graphic.

Nah!
Make 'em walk! :)

FWIW, I've taken a clue from the Fuzz and only have females in the passenger seat. I open the door, I close the door, I have a good look at my passengers as they enter and exit the vehicle. This allows me to assess the situation to decide just what other attention may be required.
Hey, I'm just old, not dead!:)

I'm guessing that most of you don't have kids? My son at the age of 9 knows where he can put his hands and I have to say he does a good job....However a buddy that I pickup for drinks on Friday afternoon could use this sign...I have to clean the winders evrey time he rides with me

I have a kid and you better believe he is learning right now what he can and cannot touch on a car. The funny thing is that he knows my car is untouchable, but he hasn't seemed to get that message on Jennifer's car. lol I guess I should freak out more when he puts hands on her car like I do when he gets too close to mine. All I seem to be training him is that my car shouldn't be touched and not all cars shouldn't be touched.

I have two kids, 9 and 6. Both of them know to not touch the window or the paint. My sister was amazed that my 6 year old son would only use the handle to close the door when he rode wit her. My kids spend a lot of time with me when I am detailing the cars. The recognize the hard work and they know that touching the paint or glass will mess it up.

jngrbrdman teach em now while there young. i spent two days on my car i went out this morning to find finger prints on the paint and a palm print on the glass. first thing i did when coming into the house was give everyone a lesson in how to open and shut the door. and then showed my wife your sign on DC, she seen it and smiled. i have four kids :band: and i go through a lot of S & W. if you sell the phrase i'll take two copies.

You're training your son well, Dave. Maybe you could give my nephew some pointers :eat:

I'm slowy getting the 5 yo to understand that there is no touching the paint on daddy car, it's the 14yo who will check to make sure her hair looks right in the paint, that still leaves the finger prints on the car

This is a great thread. I can never understand why people can't get into a vehicle without smashing all their appendages into every piece of plastic or painted material in sight. Another thing that drives me nuts is when people can't seem to keep their feet on the floormats... wtf?! Yeah,I put floormats in there so you can step all over my carpet... how rude. :realmad:

Yeah, all of my friends leave hand prints on the trim around the windows and on the windows themselves all of the time. It drive me nuts.

That is not only hilarious... I may actually do it!!!

What do those people think the door handles are for? (it's just plain lazy)
