Does No Fault accidents go against the insurance down the road ?

Cabbie swiped my car and caused a scratch on the front drivers door.

I have one of 2 options.

- File claim and get reimbursed by insurance company.....no fault state. Regardless, it is my understanding that the *accident* will appear on record regardless. I'm not sure if this is a good thing as I am planning to swith providers at some point

- Option 2 . Just pay out of pocket - $500ish for the repair myself

Option 3 - Go after the cabbies insurance company direct ?

I don't currently live in a no-fault state, but from what I remember I thought it only applied to medical bills from injuries sustained in an accident. For the kind of thing you're talking about, go straight to the other guy's insurance. Most insurance carriers shouldn't count accidents against you if you're not at fault.

out here in jersey, it doesnt matter who's fault it is :nervous2: once your insurance company pays your premiums go up. some companies have 1st ticket/1st accident forgiveness, but if not your bill goes up. So if someone steals your car, your premium goes up. Hit and Run and nj state's and you got full coverage it goes up. underinsured driver and nj state's underinsured program doesnt cover all of it, it goes up. they do this to prevent fraud so someone doesnt hit something, and later blames it on a **mysterious**driver. Or someone no longer wants their car/or cant afford so they hit it arranged to be stolen :shocked <---that happens alot :nervous2: ....but if the bill is lets say $300 to fix but you deductible is $500 it doesnt go up :bigups in that case you would of been better paying it for yourself..i have a $1000 deductible so if the repairs are lets say under $2000 im paying for it because here the points stay on for 3 years, its 5 insurance points :soscared: im no expert but i iknow all of this due to myself, my bro and friends involvement with insurance companies :cooleek: once thing im not sure of is, if i get into an accident and later on the insurance company finds them, the will pursue them..but im not sure if you get you increased premium back...hmmmm

Kentucky is a no fault and my insurance went through the roof when I had that wreck where I broke my heel. Both medical and property claim against that one so I don't know which, or both, drove it up. I pay more for liability on a 95 2wd Nissan PU than by wife does for full coverage 2001 LE Pathfinder (same insurance company, weird??).

I was rear-ended while stopped at a red light in Florida, a no-fault state. I had my insurance pay for the auto repair and they subjugated the cost back to the other drivers insurance. $8,000 for the car and $1,500 medical. The other driver admitted fault and was ticketed for inattentive driving. My rates did not go up. I have State Farm.

I'd suggest you speak with your agent and ask him what happens in your state with your insurer.
