No clear coat?

Ok so Im supposed to be detailing an older car, a 55 Fairlane to be exact and I believe its been resprayed at some point but the paint is dull, oxidized and needs to be brought back to life.

I know it doesnt have clear coat so how do you guys go about attacking a single stage paint like this?

Is it the same as clearcoat or what?

Should I use any different techniques or use a less intense polish?

Thanks

Whats the specific question?

Sorry, I was making sure it let me post before i wrote everything...the other day it wasn't letting me post for some reason.

Im basically looking for help with polishing old paint with no clear coat since ive never worked on a car like this.

Its not the the same thing but from a polishing stand point its similar. Just bring extra pads and microfibers due to the paint transfer.

I always get the single stage paints that are like butter! I would rather do a SS than a ceramiclear car any day!

megs 83 on a PFW cut through with ease! 105/pfw on rotary was too much for them

You should be fine. It's mostly the same as clear coat. Your just gonna dirty your pads more. Do a quick search on here for single stage paint buffing and that should yield you some great results! Goodluck. it's easy!

thanks guys, I guess I will have to see how it goes.

Will the paint wash out of the pads at all or what?

If you clean them soon enough yes. I would clean them when you switch to a new one. Then clean them all when you get home.
