so my buddy got a 2004 wrx the other day and decided to debadge it. Got the letters and most of the glue off however the paint looked to be raised outlining the letters. This looked bad so he barrowed my rotary to see if he could make them less visable. I'm talking low grit polish running at 2-2.5 speed on my buffer. He knows how to use it proficiently - we both wrked for a detail companies and used the rotary alot. Well he starts up and the letter start blending then i leave to get a beer and boom........the screams still haunt my ears.....he burned through to the primer. Its the size of a silver dollar right smack dab in the center of his trunk. I've wrked with single stage paints and it never wiped off like this. i do not know much about painting. Is it possible to respray the area, clear coat, and blend? this shop near me said the whole trunk has to be stripped and repainted running 300 bucks. others tell me that people can spray the area and blend from there. if someone can help me us out we would appreciate it. thanks for replies
