Alright Guys....
Diabolic here with my wife's 1997 DSM (mitsubishi eclipse)
I want to kick off one of my first detail post with a few old pics of paint correction done by hand on one of the panels. Now for those of you who like to detail by hand, you know what it feels like. Nowadays I find myself using a DA, but for those of you who want to tackle light to moderate paint correction by hand, its definitely possible with plenty of time and a Costco size bottle of Elbow Grease :wink1:
Below is the picture of the panel in question, the car has never been polished/waxed for a long time. As you can see, it has moderate to severe swirls and scratches. Like I said before, these are relatively old pics, and I used what light source I had at the time (my garage light).
The rear panel was taped off to prevent product from getting into the crevices.
Now onto the goods.....
Last step, I used Meguiar's NXT 2.0 to seal it in.
Total time: 30 minutes. Not including the wash. The swirls were pretty nasty, and this is only a small section of a panel being worked on. The rest of the cars paint is heavily neglected, it basically needs to be re-painted. If I were to use my DA on it, It would be a lot less time and significantly better results. Sometimes you have to work with what you have and do it to its maximum potential.
Just showing what a little....ok a lot of elblow grease can do with the proper passes and products. Let me know what you guys think.
