I've spent a lot of time lately reading up about how to truly detail a car on this site. The information here is truly invaluable and I thank everyone for their contributions. I've already got a laundry list of "must haves" for detailing.
I picked up my new 2003 Mercedes E Class last week and want to start everything off right. Unfortunately, I'm starting a little behind as the dealer prepped the car and I have some minor swirls on my black car- wow they show up fast! I've been reading the archives and doing a little homework over the last week or so and I believe that I am ready to embark on this journey. I just need a little bit of clarification...
I plan on getting the Porter Cable ultimate detailing machine orbital buffer to assist in my detailing and the Blackfire new car kit. Should I strip everything first with a Dawn bath or just go ahead and use the Blackfire gloss and shampoo conditioner?
Next, I planned on applying Mequires swirl remover no. 9 to try and remove the minor swirls that are already appearing on my black beauty. Does this sound like the appropraite product?
Then, I planned on applying the Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish and finishing off with 3 or 4 layers of the Blackfire Paint Protection.
Does all of this sound reasonable? All of the information here has been great, but its abundance has kinda confused me. Am I on the right track?
Thanks in advance for all your help!
