Hi Everyone,

I have learned a lot so far and would like to by a PC soon but I don't know what brand of pads to go with. I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX 4DR, Burgandy with metal flake paint. The paint is in pretty bad shape with moderate to heavy swirling as well as some other scratches that are removable. Not much oxidation however.

I have only used a cheap Walmart orbital before and would like to know what is the best option for pads as far as ease of use, price, and quality. Also, what backing plate should I go with?

Thanks everyone for all the great information. I love looking at all the Click and Brag pages. Nice work all!

I'm also interested in learning more about the available and widely used foam pads. What pads do you guys use to apply wax? Which pads do you use to perform polishing? Thanks in advance.

Propel2 pads are terriffic!! So are the Lake Country pads. have not used the Edge system have heard good reports. It really depends on who you want to deal with. Patrick is very knowledgeable at Excel Detail. He will treat you right. I have his pads and they work well and last a long time. So do the Lake Country pads. In fact the Sonus SFX pads are very good as well. I could not pick one over the other. That is why I have all three.

For the PC, I really like Lake Country pads and the main reason for preferring them over Sonus for example is the wide range of foams available - a "cut" for every situation if you like, ranging from yellow cutting right down through to red finishing. They are also excellent quality pads and should last a good while.

I just got a PC today! I'm very excited to try it out, probably at this point only for wax application. It's coming close to winter, and if I'm going to do any polishing, I'm probably going to do it after the winter.

What do you guys think of the white pad that comes with the PC 7336? Some mention that they just throw it out. Is it going to scratch my finish if I use it? Or are there just better pads that can be used for polishing/waxing? I'm plan on using the PC to apply Collinite, no polishing yet.

My PC didn't come with that pad, but I have read where members have had them fall apart while using them, while some didn't seem to have a problem. A lot of folks use that pad and put a MF bonnet over it to buff off LSP's, etc.. I think that it is a polish pad, but someone who has actually used one might chime in on how well it worked for them.

A couple of places to contact for pads and a backing plate would be Danase or Exceldetail. Both guys offer top notch service and will steer you in the right direction when you decide to buy pads.

After buying the Edge pads, I won't bother with any others again, not meaning to put them down or anything (competitors) just love the dual sided pads and system. Friend had a ton of LC pads he sold b/c after buying the Edge kit they just sat there.

I've tried 3m and am sticking with Meguiars. They are easy to get (most good parts stores can order them) and can be had for great prices online also. They work well and have a good company standing behind them if there are any issues.
