Hi everyone - new here - well kinda - been around for a long time, but never posted - too busy soaking in information. I would like to thank all Autopians for the good advice and tips posted all over this forum, without such I would not have survived my latest nightmare.

The unthinkable happened to me: my '01 Eldorado (black) was subjected to an automatic car wash with spinning brushes!!! The wash was suggested to me by a friend of mine (who obviously knows nothing about car care) during the colder months. I asked specifically, "does the car wash have spinning brushes?" I was told no. Imaging my horror, moving through the wash bay and the big blue brushes begin to swirl! By then it was too late. The damage had been done and it was too cold out to do anything about it. Scratches all over the Eldo.

Some time ago I purchased a rotary, and not too long ago, a 6" backing plate and some ccs pads. Yesteday, despite my fears about making bad worse, pulled out my rotary and went to work :buffing: . Oh my god! It is absolutely beautiful again! (well, to my standards.) I couldn't have done it with out the knowledge of those here at Autopia.

I don't have any of the expensive products, but here's what I used:

Meguiar's Deep Crystal wash

Mother's clay bar system

3m Perfect-it rubbing compound with ccs orange pad

Meguiar's Professional Swirl Remover (no. 9) with ccs white pad

3m Imperial Hand Glaze

Meguiar's Gold Class Wax with ccs red pad

Please critique my list. Anything I should or should not have done?

(I can see in the morning sun, that I missed a scratch or two...)
