Newbie here! Got some questions!

OK well I detail at a local shop, and use nothing but junk stuff. I wanna make the step into using REAL stuff, the products you guys are using in your details. Now I buff with a rotary, using LC blue,black,and white durastrand pad. We use some BS Called "Dominator" and "Sleek". Im ready to try some stuff that will actually remove swirling and paint defects. Been looking at Menzerna SIP or 106f. If I got these, what pads are recommended? Can I continue using the black foam pad with them or maybe the blue? Or is more cut nesseccary? And do you break these all the way down while buffing? I really apprecite any help you guys can give me, just need to know what products Im missing out on. If yall could throw out some pads and products I should look into that would be great! Appreciate it!
 
Orange and white pads. (for Edge anyway).



Menzerna makes killer products. You will be pleased. Use a machine!



Also check out Ultima PGP at four coats 12 hours apart. You will be amazed!!
 
Yes, Edge is a product line. Do a Google search for Edge Pads and all the websites that sell them will be included in the search. Gotta agree with Knuckle about Menzerna, I also like Optimum Polish. As for LSPs - you'll be getting a zillion opinions. Welcome to Autopia!

For machinery, look into a Porter Cable PC, UDM (Ultimate Detailing Machine), Flex, or if you are brave a rotary.



Do a search in this forum for more details and or help on the products and or machines I just mentioned.



Really the best advice I can give you is as follows.



1) Enjoy detailing your vehicle(s). Have fun! Take it easy and don't stress. Properly done it is a rewarding stress releiver.



2) Read through this forum.



3) Come up with a step by step game plan, write it down, and put it into effect. Start with what your goal is. Kind of what your ideal end reslult should be. Now look into types and brands of chemicals, materials, machine, order of processes, and so on. Now post it for us to help out where and however we can.



4) Read through this forum. Not kidding. After doing the above it actually helps to check specifics.



5) Get a machine to do the heavy work. If you aren't a pro a PC, UDM, of Flex will very very safely do 95% of what a rotary will do.

WOW Thanks so much for the help so far guys! I am going to be using a rotary but Im sure I will get the hang of it. When your buffing these products, do you buff it untill its completely broke down and gone? I will probally just start off ordering a white and orange LC pad and SIP. That should remove a LOT of swirling right? My 11 year old red paint would probally love it. One mor quetsion, do you guys use the LC Durastrand pads? Keep the info coming guys! I wanna get serious about detailing, im a detailer, but I wanna detail on you guys levels. So I can actually maybe make some money at this stuff, hah. Thanks guy!
 
I've used the IP on an orange pad with some good results. Its a little cheaper and I believe the cut is the same on the scale.



There are lots og great polishes out there and it depends what condition the car is in. I've also used SFX-2 and 3 with nice results. Just my .02
