Newbie-1st Blackfire detail

Hi everyone,

I am finally going to give a full outside detail this weekend with blackfire products.

A couple questions. I plan to clay the car first then apply Gloss enhancing polish, then the Blackfire Black Ice. I also have the Wet Diamond All finish paint protection...would I apply this after the BlackFire Black Ice?

I have both the 3 inch and 6 inch Griots Random Orbital...is it beter to use the 3 inch Orbital when I appy the Black Ice.

Thanks everyone...I really appreciate all the information.

I would just do the GEP and Black Ice. Black Ice is a sealant/wax from what I understand so not sure how complementary they would be.

If you wanted to use the products you mentioned, I would do the GEP, then a layer of BFWD, after buffing it off, let it cure for 8-12 hours then apply a coat of Black Ice. I'd imagine that Wet Diamond and Black Ice should play well together, in another thread earlier today, Todd said that GEP would work in sync with the Wet Diamond and enhance durability.

Wet Diamond is a sealant, while Black Ice is a sealant/wax hybrid. The general rule of thumb is to apply waxes atop sealant, as sealants offer more durability and typically a more candied look, while waxes usually offer a warmer, deeper look and less durability, although there are always exceptions, Black Ice being one of those.

I like applying Black Ice by hand. You can use a machine with it, but its going to stain the hell out of your pads. BFWD applies very well via machine though, but youll wear yourself out trying to do it all with a GG3. Use the machines together just like you would when polishing. Use the GG3 for the tight spots, and the GG6 for the wide open areas.

I'm interested in seeing a comparison of both looks and durability between BI alone and BI layered on BFWD. With the long lasting protection of BI, I wonder if it is even worth the extra step.

Thanks for comments. Stupid question If I use the 6 inch Griots how do I apply the black ice wax to the pad. The 3 inch fits perfectly.
