Just a matter of personal preference I would assume?

I will doing my sisters red 02 VW which has seen better days. Is wax really the only other thing I would need besides like washing stuff and a clay bar?

Both polishes are highly rated and will do your job nicely. Next step, as you said, would be to find some waxes that suit your needs.

Another option would be to go with the Optimum Polish and Compound. They are both user friendly and do not dust like the XMT and Poorboys.

Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Polisher

5 Flexible Backing Plate

32 oz. Optimum Polish

32 oz. Optimum Compound

32 oz. Optimum Poli-Seal

6.5 Orange Light Cutting Pad

6.5 White Polishing Pad

6.5 Gray Finishing Pad

3 Cobra Microfiber Detailing Towels

Will I see the same results with the Optimum as I would with the others? And would I apply compound, polish, Poli-Seal, and then wax? Thanks for all the help guys!

IMHO i would pick the Optimum kit. i have not used poli-seal yet...but from what i've read you should be able to go from OC w/ an orange pad and finish up with a white and poli-seal. the OP would not be used much if you have poli-seal as an AIO.

i love Optimum. i started out with the PB line...Optimum was much easier to use (longer work time, little to no dust) and a 32oz bottle lasts a LONG time.

using OP would definitely not mess anything up...it would just be a redundant step. again, i have not used poli-seal yet, but i believe it has more cut than OP...of course, OP has little to no cut anyway.

if you stick w/ Optimum you may want to price out getting a kit with more pads and just pick up the OC and opti-seal separately...it may save you $$$ or get you more pads in the end for equal cost.

anyone care to chime in about poli-seal vs. OP? am i right in thinking OP is not really needed?

OP and Poli Seal have similar cut but the Polish can be worked in longer. The Poli Seal basically just melts into the paint. There are some details were I go from the Compound straight to the Poli Seal and it finishes off great.

OP can do what PS can, but not quite the other way around. PS is great for well maintained cars just needing some light cleaning and protection in one step. Obviously, if you need some real polishing, go with the OP.
