Hey guys!

Newbie here from Nth West GA. Just purchased a 2007 Silverado and hope to learn a lot about detailing it here. Paint is in great shape. Headlights are starting to cloud slightly. Anybody have any recommendations for clearing them up? I don't have an orbital.

I'm new to this, too. CEEDOG (Corey), BobbyG, mjlinane (Michael), Troy, OldTiger, and a bunch of others can definitely recommend good headlight restoration products and practices.

Since you're new to this, I think you should join Live2Detail, too. It isn't affiliated with any store and is run by some extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful folks. You'll want to also join Autogeek Online, too. It's sort of like this site's big brother.

Headlights without a buffer - tough. I have and have used Meguiars Heavy Duty Two Step Headlight Restoration Kit which includes a drill attachment (which I did not use). I prefer my rotary and Megs M105 or PC/GG6 and MF pad but that is a preference thing. I would recommend liberally taping the paint around the headlights because you don't want to touch it with sandpaper, BP or power tool.

As for you head lights. I purchased and had good luck with the Meg's headlight resorption kit. It uses a buff pad on drill... Another option is to use a polish by hand on MF pad or towel.

A good looking truck and I like the aggressive tires!

There are several kits available and if you don't have a polisher an electric drill will do or some hand polishing is in order.

Headlights clean up pretty easily but read the directions and take your time.

Here are a couple of kits to look into.

Mothers Powerball 4 HeadLights

To keep that truck looking great you might want to think about a dual action polisher, otherwise you'll wear your arms out....;)

Welcome aboard, great looking Truck, as for detailing, I personally enjoy doing paint correction on trucks, due to more flat areas verses allot of curves and accents.

If you do a search I'm sure you can find a ton of info on polishing out those headlights. The suggestions already made are great options too. If you don't have a polisher I would look into a kit with a drill attachment. It will save you some time and elbow grease

About the headlights, the hazing is VERY minor. I will post a pic sometime. I'm hoping some elbow grease with a MF pad will work. It's so light that I can almost scratch it off with my fingernail.

If I decide to go the MF pad route and not purchase a dedicated headlight kit, what chemicals do you guys recommend I use and it what steps?

The paint is in good to excellent shape. A few minor dings and scratches here and there. I plan to give it a thorough cleaning when I get some time and paint the frame along with the under-body black for that hidden look. I can't stand how you can see it now.

What about paint protectors? After cleaning do I need to clay, add a wax or anything? Guess that just depends on how it feels right? Could I just add something like the Ultima Paint Guard Plus and be done??
