I just bought a 2006 Chevy 1500 truck Sport Metallic Red, I would like to know the best way to keep care of the paint. I don't have a PC yet so I would like to know what products to use by hand. Please list products and manufacturers. THANKS.
 
Well congrats on the new truck purchase and i would suggest you do a few things. One is to begin reading over some of these forums with any specific questions you may have. And another would be to visist a couple of these sites and start reading to begin to get an idea of what it takes to keep a vehicle looking it's best.

rinse it, wash it, and wax it; regularly and correctly. Try to keep it out of the sun from sun fading and such.
 
Like im sure eveyone is thinking you need to start by claying the car. I would hand wash using a nice shampoo, then iwould dry, use a wax (any fine grade) then i would find some mf hand apicator pads online. I know they have all of them at Eshine.ca but thats in canada. I would buy a nice wax such as nattys blue, and a good polsih. so wash, clay, polish, and then give it a nice coat of wax. If you are new i know there are some good starter paks out there. Some wont agree but i think there good investments. Check them out. And remeber to have doing it, it shouldnt be a chore but a pleasure. Enjoy the new truck

Welcome to the site. The best way to keep the paint new and clean is to leave it in the garage. Dont ever take it out because the moment you do some idiot in a P.O.S. will dent your door. ( hopefully wont happen ) but be prepared. But seriuosly, Keep it waxed and clean it every week and you shouldn't have a problem. Just do some research, dont buy cheap towels or cheap wax, use the good stuff. :D
