New to UDM polishing

Hi guys,

I took delivery of a UDM from this site a couple of weeks ago and had my first real chance to play yesterday. I'm working on a 4year old VW Beetle Cabriolet in Black which has been fairly well looked after by the previous owner, but prior to delivery, the dealer decided to use a rotary which has left it with panels similar to the Ford pick-up you've all been expressing horror at!

I've been a silent member for a long time and have picked up so much advice already, so thanks. But having had a playwith the UDM, I have two questions: Firstly, will the UDM be capable of shifting the marks left by the overenthuisatic bodywork guy and his rotary? I have the UDM Sonus kit so the SFX 1/2/3 combo.

Secondly, I have noticed tiny scratches appearing on the paintwork after using the UDM. They look like scratches in the clearcoat as they are black but they are being caused by my work. I've tried taking photos but they didn't come out too well. I am using Sonus SFX2 on a white spot pad, but got the same effects using SFX1 on a yellow 6inch pad. Please could anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
