new to detailing, need suggestions ☺

Hey guys im new to detailing and to this forum. I have a 2007 black g35x sedan and want to get rid of swirls, light scratches and most of all, water spots. I never used a buffer and i want to invest in one along with a bunch of chemical guys products!!

I need a few suggestions on what i should buy. Like i said i never used a buffer before and would love to get good at it to make my car pop!! Whats a good quality buffer to invest it? I want something that will last and I will pay whatever amount for It. I'm tired of using the standard brush, I've heard that It scratches the heck out of your car, you guys have any ideas on what kind of mitt or sponge I should invest in? Also, what are some good products from chemical guys for my black car? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
 
welcome to the forum. Well seeing as your car is black, realize that everything will show. There are lots of threads on polishes and the 2 bucket wash method.

Polisher - Porter cable, Harbor Freight or Griots garage
- get a DA to start out, I would suggest the Griots Garage

Chemical guys - I really only use their soaps (citrus wash and gloss and Maxi Suds), not a fan of the polishes
- I would suggest HD, Menzerna and Megs for polishes (but that's me)

Wash Mitt - Griots garage MF wash mitt (come in a pack of 2), they work very well

Goodluck with the Infiniti, they are very nice vehicles.

How to Properly Use the Porter Cable 7424XP Dual Action Polisher is a good how to video to get you started by mike phillips. the principles are the same with other dual action polishers that are available. a dual action polisher will be safer & easier to learn on before adding a rotary polisher later.
Porter Cable 7424 XP Dual Action Car Polisher Auto Buffer is a basic work horse polisher and well respected among detailers. I personally use Griots Garage 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher. it's a little more powerful and has a lifetime warranty. some higher end polishers are Flex XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher, Flex Polisher, Flex 3401 Polisher or Rupes LHR 21ES Big Foot Random Orbital Polisher. both are very high quality but a lot more expensive. all are available in start up kits, with basic supplies to get you started.
for washing, you need to step up to a two bucket method. Aussie Merino Wool Wash Mitt is a superb wash mitt, but I personally like Supreme Micro-Chenille Wash Mitt.
Cobra Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave Drying Towel, 20 x 40 inches is an excellent drying towel to avoid adding any new scratches after washing.

If you have to do your work outside, I suggest looking into Poorboy's World products (Blackhole glaze for your black G would look stellar). Many of them are sun/heat friendly, which can be a huge help. I use the Meguiar's g110v2 Dual action polisher.If money is not an issue, DEFINITELY go for a high quality polisher like tropicsteve mentioned. I highly suggest investing in the Meguiar's 5.5" Microfiber Correction system because most members here will recommend getting a 5" backing plate and 5.5" pads (which this kit comes with, along with the compound and wax designed for the 5.5" microfiber discs included). Great value and I believe its still on sale.

Good luck and consider yourself very lucky to have this forum as a resource. You will probably bail yourself out multiple times using the information on here.
