Does anybody think Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish will go over Zaino's.I'm not trying to take shortcuts or being cheap,I'm just a sixty three year old man thats disabled and have limited funds just trying to get the best looking finish with the least amount of work due to my limitations and funds.I bought the Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish and the Deep Crystal Carnauba hoping that would do it with out overhauling the paint job.

I don't know that you want to apply a polish over a sealant. Polishes are meant to remove surface imperfections like oxidation, swirls, etc. I would imagine that it would remove some, if not all, of whatever products you currently have on the car too. Are their swirls or something on the car that you are trying to remove with the polish?

'Limited Funds' and 'Zaino' don't usually go in the same sentence.

According to most folks on this board Zaino doesnt like anything else touching it and produces an 'unparallelled shine' all by itself so I would leave it well aloone.

No I was wanting to know one of two things, take the Zaino,s off or leave it on and apply the Meguiars Deep Cyrstal Polish and then apply the Meguiars Deep Cyrstal Carnauba.Talked by phone to Meguiars customer service,he says it might work over Zaino,s but not sure 100%.another thought is would applying the Meguiars Deep Cyrstal Carnauba over Zaino,s work.

I dunno... The deep crystal polish is step 2 in the Meguiar's 3 step system. Its not the paint cleaner in step one, but it is a polish and I don't think that Zaino would hold up very well to it. Even if it didn't remove it all, which applying it by hand probably wouldn't accomplish, you may remove enough of it to notice. Hopefully some of the guys more familiar with Zaino can jump in and say how tough it is to remove. Normally if you are trying to deal with swirls then you need to consider removing the sealant that is on the surface first. That way you can determine if the swirls are in the sealant or the clearcoat. Its possible that many of the swirls will disappear just by polishing off the Zaino.

What kind of problems are you trying to correct on the car?

Smoker I would leave it alone but about a month ago I sustained to the top front edge of the hood and had some nicks on the painted rear bumper and I had to have them sprayed and of course I don't have any more Zaino's and thats the reason I'm going this route of using Meguiars.Ten Dollars for Meguiars is a lot better than Zaino's price plus shipping.

Ahhh.... Well, in that case I would say you could skip the polish and just use the carnauba. The carnauba has less of a chance of removing the Zaino than the polish does.

Jngrbrdman, just thought of something else, the Zaino's i have on now is over six months old now and it could have lost its durabilty

This is true... How does it look? I don't know what the durability of Z is, but 6 months is pushing it for any sealant. If it is starting to pool water on the roof and the hood then its possible that it is wearing off. The polish may just do the trick and get the rest off.
