Proper Auto Care is proud to introduce SIX new kits, designed with the help of polishing expert Kevin Brown!

Each kit is based around the amazing new Super Micro Abrasive Technology Meguiar's Polishes: M105 Ultra Cut Compound and M205 Ultra Finishing Polish.

When Captain Jack asked me to develop a new kit based around M105 and M205, so that we could pass on savings to our customers, I took the job very seriously. I mean it was the first kit I was asked to design; anybody who knows me knows that I take any task very seriously, and I wanted to make sure that these kit's where perfect! I know the approach other guys take, randomly throwing together this and that, sprinkle a couple pads on top, and call it a kit. Not good enough.

I called my friend Kevin Brown and we started discussing the possiblities, what works, and what doesn't work with these new polishes. I later coined his unique processes the Kevin Brown Method in his honor. I emailed with Meguiars and I worked with Lake Country.

Here is what we found.

M105 and M205, because of there unique nature, work better with smooth faced pads, such as Meguiar's Soft Buff 2.0 pads or our Classic Flat HI-GLOSS pads. The flatter the pad, the greater the contact patch. This increase in surface area reduces the rate at which the pad's load with contaminants, as well as increase the amount of abrasives that are working. The result is a more even cut with great shine in less time. The bonus is that the pad's do not have to be cleaned as often!

Meguiar's M34 Final Inspection is the only product recommended by Meguiar's for use with M105 or M205. Because it doesn't contain gloss enhancers or other additives, M34 Final Inspection will not affect the performance of the polish, making it ideal for priming a dry pad or wiping the surface clean. Each kit features a bottle of M34 for your pleasure!

These are the only official Kevin Brown Kits, designed with the help of Kevin Brown, and are ideal for use with the Kevin Brown Method! I am sure that others will follow suite, perhaps down to the flat pads and the reasoning, but make no mistake, we did it first, and we worked hard to do it better.

If you have already have a polisher, we offer two kits, one with Meguiar's excellent Softbuff 2.0 pads and one with Classic Flat HI-GLOSS Lake Country polishing pads.

KBM KIT with Meguiar's Pads
KBM KIT with Lake Country Pads

If you are on the fence we offer either kit with your choice of a Porter Cable 7424 or FlexVRG3401 polisher.

KBM KIT with Lake Country Pads, Porter Cable
KBM KIT with Meguiar's Pads, Flex

Please click on each kit to learn more about it. While you are at it please take a few minutes to enjoy our new 'tabbed browsing' feature at the top of the description. By selecting a different tab you can learn more about the general directions and tips including pad priming specifics and work time, or kit specific directions.

You don't need a rotary anymore to do true paint correction!!! No longer will the tough guys with rotarys try to steal your girl or shake you down for your milk money!

I want to thank Kevin Brown for all his help in creating the best , more complete, and most researched M105 and M205 kits available!!!

Todd

Remember that you have to use down force when applying M105/M205 via pc, ask Kevin Schwarzenegger Brown says, "It's all about da pressure!"

It's helpful to have the KBM instruction and tips so readily accessible. Thanks!

May I point out a possible incongruity in the text?

Under the "KBM Kits Explained," the text states:
The non-diminishing abrasives in Meguiar's M105 and M205 are sensitive to pad design. Flatter pad's have a greater surface area or 'contact patch' than more modern designs. The increase in contact area allows more of the non-diminishing abrasives to contact the paint increasing the rate of polishing and delivering a higher quality finish faster.

And so the text recommends the use of the Lake Country 6.5" Constant Pressure Flat Pads.

Yet under the "General Directions and Tips," the text recommends that M105 & M205 be used with the Lake Country dimpled CSS pads. Doesn't this contradict the counsel to use flat pads? Or do these non-diminishing abrasive polishes work equally well with the dimpled pads?

Hey Al, thanks for pointing that out. We where pretty stoked about getting the kits on line and worked late last night. Apparently we linked the CCS pads to the General Directions page, it was a mistake.

The increased surface area of the flat pads (and the fact that the newer non-diminishing polishes respond better to surface area instead of rotational speed) make the flat 'Classic' pads the best choice for use with M105/M205. CCS pads will work, but you will be giving up a small amount of performance (the finish will be outstanding).

We work hard to piece together kits and we really want them to be the best performing, so from that stand point, our OFFICAL KBM kits will have carry only flat pads!

Thanks again buddy, I appericate the heads up!!!!!

How much pressure are we talking about here? Can you guess in pounds of pressure?

Thanks!

Hey Todd i met you those pictures don't look anything like you LOL Great kits for sure they will help alot of members get that perfect shine.

The amount of pressurah required will vary due to a few factors.

1. Hardness of the clearcoat.
2. Level of defects that you are trying to remove.

You still want the pad to spin in a CW direction. If you are applying enough pressure to make the pad stop spinning or spin CCW, that is too much pressurah. Stop

If the defects are not severe, you won't need as much pressurah.

Gotcha.

Hey buddy, those aren't me, but rather forum legend Kevin Brown! (Or Arnold wearing Kevin's famous hat)... :D

:D:D:D ROLF:D:D:D Too Funny! :D:D

Yes, I was a 98-pound weakling before I found da KB method and got PUMPED UP!

Now I kick polish dust in the faces of the da rotary dudes!!!:cursing:

Rock On! KB

(well, actually I havent used KBM...yet) :o

I still have many of CMA's original concave polishing pads. Those should work pretty well with 105/205 too, right?
Also, would the Kompressor pads be considered flat?

Yes they will should work very well, actually, as they, by design, focus the pressure of the pad evenly.

The Kompressor pads work nicely with the KBM/PC, but the flat pads work just a little better.

am i to conclude from this that KBM only works with meguiars..

From reading the verious posts / forums it should work with any linear type abrasive that require time and pressure (i.e. non-diminishing abrasives)
