Hi,

I'm new to the forum but I've been lurking and reading on and off for a while. I do have a few questions however.

I'm taking delivery of a new Z06 Vette this week :D so I just wanted to know if my 'keep it shiny' plan is going to be ok and if there is anything I need to change, add or do differently.

I decided to give Zaino a try for one as I have always used retail Meguiar's products in the past. I have the following on order:

2 Z7 wash, 2 ZFX, 2 claybars, 2 Z2, 2 Z6, 2 Z10 leather conditioner and 1 Z5 polish (just in case) as well as four applicators. I also ordered 5 MF towels from YoSteve.

I planned on using the MF towels for drying but could they be used for removing Z2 as well or are 100% cotton towels such as the Cannon Carisma better?

Also, I have seen mention of a multiple bucket wash method. I am not familiar with this. Could someone explain this or point me to a thread that does?

Am I correct in understanding I need to first wash with regular Dawn dishwashing detergent then claying prior to applying a THIN layer of Z2 with ZFX with no more than 3 coats of Z2 in 24 hours? (Using Z6 before each Z2 coat and as a lubricant for the claybar)

I also understand I can apply Z2? to the wheels and even the windshield?

Sorry if the post is long, I'm just trying to be as detailed ;) as possible.

Oh, I mentioned to the dealer not to wash my car but they insisted they have to wash it in order to inspect for paint damage prior to delivery. I wanted to say "That is precisely why I don't want you to wash it in the first place!" They did say they'd leave the plastic wrap on the interior for me however. :doh

Any input, suggestions, cautions, or whatnot would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can post some pics soon.

I just got a new car ( i would sign until they said they wouldn't wash it). Zaino'ed it when I took it home

Dawn wash, clayed, Zaino'ed.

Three bucket method.

You use one bucket for the top panels hood roof and trunk.

Other bucket for lower panels because of all the gunk and junk on them. You don't want to bring that stuff up in your mitt and scatch the other parts,

3'rd bucket just for wheels, all that stuff should stay down there and not on the upper parts.

I also have BB towel from CMA and CWB to get water off the car

after wash.

What kind of wash mitts ??

MF - i never have enough, I use my 100 cotton on the dirty stuff

Car looks great after one round of Zaino, will put another on in few days..

 Did I misunderstand? I thought you used two buckets and started on top and worked your way down. I thought you used one bucket for soapy water and the second one to rinse your mitt before you put it back in the soapy water. That's what I did and it seemed to work well. I rubbed the mitt in the rinse water before I put it in the soapy water. When I emptied the buckets there was lots of dirt and grit/dust at the bottom of the rinse bucket and none to be seen in the soapy water bucket.

And congrats on the new cars. :xyxthumbs

Taxlady,

That's what I do, too -- except, first starting with 2 buckets & doing the wheels, wheel wells, then empty the buckets & rinse, then do the 2 bucket thing from the top down.

Use one wash mitt for above the belt-line; another for below the belt-line

If they must wash it, take them a new cotton wash mit and tell them not to dry the car. Just rinse well. They should to able to analysize any paint imprefections with just water spots. By using a good (new) cotton wash mit you may lessen the damage the dealership will do to the paint. Also ask them to wash with a clean bucket and fresh water. If they can not follow and understand these simple request you might consider somewhere else to have your car serviced. This can be looked at as their first opportunity to show their commitment to customer service. :wavey

Congrats on the new car.:bounce

You will love the Zaino.

I like that idea about the second wash mitt for "below the belt-line". I'll try that the next time, which will probably be soon. The business about making rust dust in the parking garage is still going on.

I have a second mitt for the wheels and tires. I have a 3rd for below the beltline.
