new life to old paint with X-Kote

1995 Toyota Avalon. Funny thing only the hood was like this. The roof and trunk were fine. Procedure, wet sand with 2500, then polish with meguirs #2 fine cut cleaner, prep with solvent degreaser and then layed down the X-Kote. It took 2 coats to get it jsut right but it's almost good as new, minus the stone chips.

That looks nice, that stuff definatly looks like it is a time saver. I think the real application here would be where the paint is to thin to get the defects out.
 
actually the reason (to me anyways) why the hood looks that bad is because it might have been repainted which crap paint..the hood and fenders dont match one bit so idk if thats because of the lighting/shadows/indoor picture or because of the wet sanding.



Nice job though looks pretty darn good

Most likely you are 100% correct. The hood is probably a repaint considering it is the only panel oxidized, and yes a bad color match to boot.
