New glass formula?

Anyone heard of using a few drops of dishwashing liquid deluted with water for cleaing glass, it is suppose to be streek free. anyone tried this method? gary

I find that hard to believe. I would think that the soap would leave a residue behind but I could be totally wrong.

It's an old school formulation--I was never satisfied with the results.

Do you have any QEW? A few drops of that + distilled water makes an *excellent* glass cleaner. :D

Distilled water, a little white vinegar, and a drop or two of dish soap. That's pretty much what store bought glass cleaner is anyway.

For 95% of windows i use a wet cloth and Bounty paper towel or MF. I have a dedicated window cloth and adjust the amount of water to weather conditions and glass temp. Winter less water, summer more water.

I wet the cloth and spray a little APC and then rinse a couple times and then squeeze out most of the water. The cloth is 100% rayon, i think. If there are finger prints or other marks, i just scrub a little harder. As long as you remove the water before it dries, they are steak free.

Tobacco film just do one quick clean and then do it again.

The dish soap method is what pro window washers use. (skyscrapers)

I use GM's Optikleen conentrate...mix 4 oz's to 28ozs of water ..makes a great window cleaner..paint safe..no streaking....cleans the real tuff stuff off of glass.......4.00 for 32 oz bottle...

I keep a little glass cleaner in the truck but usually dunk a mf in my tank, squeeze it out, wipe glass, follow with dry mf. In winter though I break out the alcohol as it evaporates fast. Recently I read in a magazine that a common culprit for streaks is dirty hands. Never considered that before but makes sense.

Hi Gary:

I would recommend against using dishwashing liquid at any dilution. I have worn glasses since I was a kid and have tried dishwashing liquid and found that it left a residue that required a lot of rinsing to remove. As a side note, I use Neutrogena facial soap (unscented) to wash my polycarbonate glass lenses and find that it cleans great and rinses off easily with no apparent residue. I have not tried it on car glass, though.
