New Foam Gun / Questions about it.

Hey everyone, I just purchased the foam gun (quart model) off of the Autogeek website.

I just received it today and would love to test it out tomorrow. I have some questions about the foam gun before I start using it.

1) I'm using the DP Xtreme Foam Formula Auto Shampoo for my foam gun. How much soap do I fill the bottle with?

Do I have to add anything besides water into the bottle? I've read some threads about people filling the bottle up with water after adding the soap.

I'm guessing I should fill th ebottle with 2 ounces of shampoo and 6-8 ounces of water like the direction says on the bottle of soap?

2) Which setting should I be using?

3) Is it bad to leave the soap in the bottle after each use?

Thanks a lot everyone.

1) Pour about 2 ounces into the container, add about 8 ounces of water. I only add soap and water. With the cover on tight...shake it up.

2) The settings very on how much foam you want to see, if you want a little set it to the first notch, if you want what looks like a giant snowball in your driveway set it to the last notch, meaning if you are looking down at it the brass stem would be pulled all the way to the left. I usually go for this setting however you go through a lot more soap.

3) I don't think it would hurt it to leave it in, however I usually just rinse mine out.

You guys fill up the plastic bottle with water? Steve told me not to....the trick from what I gathered of this unit was the soap sucking up from the bottle mixed with the water and created the foam / suds the amount of foam was created by the leveler on the top and which way you would slide it

I also don't empty mine when I'm done I leave it as is

I filled it with water because thats what the instructions said to do....I will try it without and see how it works.

if that's what it says then do so....I don't with mine of which I got from Steve...and it foams up like a son of a gun

well thats what it says on the autogeek site for the DP foam (for what its worth), but it sounds like it will work either way...I will try it this weekend without the water.

Mine might have said the same thing and I didn't pay attention to it...I just went off what Steve said, since he sold it to me

Beemer, how much soap did you pour in the bottle?:passout:

I think that it came up the side of the plastic bottle about 1/2 inch...since the syphon tubes hits the very bottom I wasn't concerned with filling it up very much...I haven't had one issue with making foam this way...and until you guys posted about using water in there I never gave it any thought:D

I used the gun tonight and the stem all the way to the left is like driving 100 miles an hour . Man that nozzle drinks that stuff. My bottle was empty in no time.:passout:

I guess it could be used either way, but why would there be different settings of dilution if it was to be diluted before hand:hmmm:
I also realized when I started using it that it would defintely suck down much more soap than a bucket wash, but if it added more lubrication and reduced marring during washings then it was worth it to me:surrender

I also use my soap straight (don't add any water) i got a 5 gal SS+S so i'm good with soap :lol2: :D. I put the foam gun on the least foam setting and i still get SO much foam out of it and it doesn't really suck up that much (thats using soap straight) Like steve said if i get more protection from it i think its worth it I guess its really preference on what you want and what you think is the best and most economical :bigups . I love the foam gun becasue you can also do a no bucket type of wash.

-spray car let sit
-put mitt on hood or hold in hand
-hit mitt with FG
-hit panel with FG wash with mitt
-rinse panel
-take soap off use handle rinse the mitt off
-put soap back on and repeat
