Along with there new XFE-7 seems as they have something else?

Saw this posted on another page. Apparently it's a revised 3401 but won't replace it. Same 8mm forced rotation.

The XCE is lighter, more quiet, smoother. It's has a lot of the PE14 features built in like the way it is cooled.

I read the XCE is similar to the flex but does not replace it. It may be a more consumer version (cheaper) but just a guess. It will be interesting to know if these are all made in Germany or are they leveraging their Chinese owner's capabilities.

I guess this is not the time to sell my Flex.

With Rays help and open box I got a great deal on 3401 but it not to say I can`t move on with another great deal with the holidays coming up

I will wait and see what the XCE will cost.

In world of mid grade polishers, the 3401 still feels like a freight train that never wants to die. I don't use it very much but to me it's like insurance, I know 100% it's going to work no matter what. That alone keeps it in my long list of polishers, regardless of what the latest an greatest is.

It's truly one of the greats, simply because of it's tank like build quality.

Flex had two big reveals at SEMA this year. We stopped by their booth and got a first hand look at two brand new polishers, the Flex XFE and XCE. Flex is known for their forced rotation 3401 VRG, but the new XFE is a free spinning polisher that features a 15mm throw. This certainly gives you another option if you are looking for this type of polisher. The new XCE is something we are more used to seeing from Flex. Think of the XCE as an updated version of the popular 3401, but it will not replace this popular unit. The forced rotation, 8mm throw, and improved vibration control, smooth usage, more quiet, and cooling features make for some nice upgrades.

We will have more on these buffers when it comes available, but in the mean time what do you think!?

This is what I got in my email about it.

Thanks Driver !
And the Flex 3401VRG has been around almost what - 10 years ???

Glad for new technology no doubt, we cant live without it, but some things have the guts from great design, parts quality, performance, and results, to just go forever..

Makes you wonder why after decades, no one has ever decided to make a "Better" Rotary Machine... :)

The first thing I noticed about the new Flex XFE, was that it had the same top notch build quality like the 3401. And it feels much smaller in your hands compared to a 3401 even though it's dimensions are very similar.

Rlmccarty2000 --- YOU got me contact drunk ! :)

And I keep forgetting to ask, is the new XCE a true updated version of the tried and true 3401VRG with the same Counter-Clockwise Rotation ???
