new clearcoat

i just read an article in Car and driver and it talked about a new "flexible" clearcoat that is put on over the normal base clearcoat. Apparently any scratches in the outside flexible layer automatically fill in when heat (sun) is applied to the coat. So basically any scratch in the outside that doesnt scratch through to the baseclear can be fixed by itself. I'm not sure how polish would be used on it but just thought i'd post it because if it can fix swirls too it would save us alot of trouble ;)

I do some painting. The only flexible clearcoat I know of is used for plastic pieces or fiberglass. It's actually a flex additive added to your regular clearcoat so the paint will flex with the piece that is painted. Not sure if it's similar. My clearcoat over plastic and clearcoat over paint react the same to polishes, scratches etc.

I'd love to know if there's something else out there.
