I got a new car and I want to start thinking about polishing, waxing when spring comes around.

What products should I use and what prep work needs to be done?

Clay? polish? glaze, seal, wax?

I woul appreciate any comment.

PS: The color is blue anthracite ( kind of like a dark blue-grey )

Thanks

All of the above would be a good idea for ultimate cleansing and protection, since even new cars come with junk embedded in the paint. Search around a little bit using the search feature and you'll find quite a bit of info!

A good starter list would be Clay Magic, Mother's, Griot's, or Autopia "Block" for the clay; 3M PI-III MG (pn 05937) or 1Z's Paint Polish (green can) for the polish, and the wax/sealant of your choice.

If *I* were using a wax on that color (which, BTW, sounds very cool looking), *I* would use Meguiar's #16 paste wax. For a sealant, you can't go wrong with the Klasse twins or Poorboy's EX. There are a zillion other choices out there, but these are pretty sure to please.

My dad has an 04 Lexus LS 430 which is "Flint Mica" which sounds like a similar color without the blue (its a dark grey with lots of mica'd flakes in it), and the EX looks awesome on it.

I think I would thgrow something with a little more oils in there after the PI-III MG (which is oil and filler free) just to bring out the natural beauty of the paint if you're going to use the EX. Something like P21S GEPC or Poorboys PwC.

I certainly would recommend Clay Magic first before doing anything. I've tried a couple of different things on my Z including Zaino. Currently I'm really impressed with the PS/AIO kit. The QD that's included in the kit is also :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs after using it. It certainly gives it a lot of depth in the color.
