New Car Prices

While watching the news this evening I saw an ad by a local Lincoln dealer for a 2004 Town Car with a discount from list price. Nothing really new there, but...... the discount was $9,000.
Do you think there is any chance that Ford/Lincoln might be packing a little extra into the list prices?
Having the car overpriced by $9,000 seems absolutely ridiculous to me. I wonder how the guy that bought one a couple of months ago for close to list likes what they just did to his resale. I don't think I would ever go back.

yes I agree:D new car prices are way over inflated and then they have all these rebates or 0% financing which usually equalls the discount...one or the other:confused: and if you take the 0% then they want you to pay list price:\ pay full price:crazy

The other problem with the rebates, etc. is it is beating the heck out of used vehicle prices ... especially American made. I have read many articles saying the automakers want to reverse the trend of rebates and special financing to sell cars but now everyone expects the special offers.

tell me about it - not just american cars - I got lucky becuase the 04 acura TL was a model change so they were cutting the 03 TLS prices my sticker is 4000 above what I got it for (no rebate)

Have you seen the sticker price on the new chevy 1500 crew cab Z71s??? :bigscream Its over 40K MSRP. My 2000 is no different other than the rear doors (I have an ext cab) and mine was almost 33K MSRP I hink i will be keeping mine a few more years :lmfao

I want a truck badly now, but can't visualize spending $40+ on it. I'll be driving a Mercedes if I'm going to spend that kind of money.
