Neon Problem

i want to put Pilot neon Lights under my dash by foot area;s so i was gonna use the 12v source from lighter.. so i gave the wire a snip and stripped both ends.. and then snipped off the lighter end on the neon.. and stripped the wires.. twisted them together and got nothing... then i tried twisting my lighter back to the original wires.. and nothing again.. checked all fuses and they are good... any help?

use a test light, and make sure you have a good ground.



also wouldn't you want hook up the lights to the interior light power source?
 
yes i tested them with the ignition on... but it dosent need to be, because the power to the car lighter is always on... u can lock ur car at 8 pm and go in it at 4 am and light up a cig... lol... and i tested it with a 6 - 12 volt tester and nothing.... sooooo i just ran it straight from the battery... with a fuse kit inbetween... but thanks all
