I have a near mint condition 95 mazda miata...only 11,000 miles. Bought it from my brother. Garged kept, but...at some point he left bugs on the front. I've used bug remover, clayed, polished using porter cable 7424 with relatively soft cutting pad but to no avail...the "hint" of the bug acid is still there...although now if feels very smooth to the touch.

Is this the best I can hope for, or will compounding or more agressive techniques possibly fix this?????

If a heavier compound and cutting pad doesn't work, odds are the bug guts etched the paint permanently. I see it a lot on cars that are rarely washed-pretty sad when you are cleaning bugs off cars in February, knowing they've been there for at least 3 months.
