Thank you in advance,

What product would you use on a MINI Cooper S - British Racing Green with chrome trims.

I`m between Dodo Juice Supernatural Wood box presentation and Bouncers Black Series Flawless. Any recommendations?

I need help quick detailing spray. The car has chrome and I`ve already started noticing scratches. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you all,

-D

I saw this thread when first posted but didn`t respond simply because I don`t have experience with the products you`ve listed. Perhaps you would get a few more posts if you mentioned the tools you have available, your current processes, your experience level and perhaps just the products you have on the shelf.

Scratches are likely from improper washing/drying methods. Make sure you are using a proper wash method (like the two bucket or similar). Also, make sure to take care of your wash media (mitt and towels) properly to not induce "scratching". Last but not least, dont use automatic car washes.

Right. And since chrome is one of the hardest automotive materials to scratch, if the chrome is marred I can`t help but wonder whether the paint is too. IMO that`s what the whole ballgame is about- not marring the paint/chrome/glass/etc. That`s the #1 thing...not wax/polish/etc. etc. Just don`t mar it and everything else falls into place.

That said, I can`t help but wonder whether the use of a Quick Detailer is involved...I basically *never* touch a vehicle between washes as I`ve found no 100% safe way to do so.

Get the supernatural plastic jar and another wax or even better a sealant with the money you save. I personally love Blue Velvet and Blue Velvet Pro, if I`m not using the pro edition, I put down either Poorboys EXP or HD Poxy then either Supernatural, Rain Forest, Pinnacle SSII, or Poorboys Natty`s blue.

Ok, mebbe I`m not with it..........

Why the need for the "wood box" series? If you`re hell bent on supernatural, they have it without........ And you could then put that $$$ to another wax as well... And another gotta ask, why are you stuck on dodo? There are ton of great waxes out there, so I really wonder the decision behind it. Cuz they british, and your car is? (sshhhhh it`s german,)

Honestly I`ve probably used every wax short of crystal rock and the cg stuff and guess what, I got a great collection of high $$$$ that I don`t use.

If you look up one of my old threads, I compared side by side 50/50 a $20.00 wax, and a $300.oo wax. That day nobody could tell the difference, same for a week and a month. (which is all let it sit on the car before feeling the need to play)

Buy em both and do your own 50/50, mebbe do a 3rd wax (cheaper one) and 1/3,1/3,1/3

Paste wax is going going gone....
I hear you but I`ve been listening to peope say this for over a decade. I remember having this conversation with Steve (PoorBoy) about 12 years ago. He asked me way back then if I thought there was still a market for wax? So far, there is.

I`m just a traditional Sunday morning detail guy.

Sadly I don`t have access to car wash and wax environment at my current condo.

Ive taken my car to the local coin self car washes and I only use pressure wash no bristles brush. I`ve been doing this regularly for the 6 months since I drove my new car off the lot. I`m yet to have the car detailed and waxed, this is killing me, because Ive always dedicated my Sunday`s detailing my car.

Here in the Bay Area I found no detailing shop open durring the weekend.

I rarely touch the paint with qd spray, but only to wipe bug bird waist. I do clean my windows on a daily basis rain or shine , I have to have spotless windows, I keep a bottle of glass cleaner and microfiber towels in my truck.

I`m enthusiastic to find a technique that works for me with my limitations.

So far I`ve scraped the forum and found a handful of products and I can`t get my finger to choose one.

We had a few years of drought and with the rain came lots of caked debris on the rear bumper. Apparently there was some caked debris that scratched the surface.

Can a deep scratch get removed off chrome surface?

I join the detailing forum and the dodo brand was mentioned everywhere so I figured it`s was a favorite. I was not aware the wood box came in plastic.

I`m not committed to Dodo, I`m really just curious if these expensive waxes actually worth it. Originally I was going to buy the white label wax at MINI BMW dealership, I purchased there plastic trim white label product.

I`ll check out your 50/50 post

Thanks

Chrome is different than paint. There is no removing a deep scratch from chrome.

OK, copy that, hope I didn`t come across as too judgmental.

As merlin said, generally you just can`t correct chrome. Chromium is just so hard that anything potent enough to abrade it (like sanding a scratch on a piece of wood) will also leave (new) marring.

And then there`s the "detailing expert" who saw the old Jag I did with Collinite and proclaimed "that`s DodoJuice, nothing else looks like that!"

Is that REAL CHROME or plastic "chrome". Dont have experience with mini`s..

If it is plastic (well either way really, just plastic piece will likely be cheaper), and the scratch really bugs you, see how much a new trim piece is (due to the scratch looking too deep to polish out).

I just check, its plastic.
