Im going to be doing a big truck. One of those tractor and trailor things (without the trailer) and this is my first detail on someone elses vehicle  . I need some good wax and pre wax cleaner that i can get from autozone, wal-mart or napa. Also need some good chrome polish, they have those big horns on there truck, i want to make them look good, and there is also some aluminum that needs polished, i need this from wal-mart, autozone, or napa also, i have never dull, but im not sure if that will make them shine, never used it. Not sure if i need the prewax cleaner, he just said he wanted it washed, waxed and inside cleaned. Look at the list below and tell me what im missing.

this a list of what i have.

-A pile of cheap wal-mart microfiber, (all i can afford)

-Turtlewax bug and tar remover.

-Armor all- new and improved mixed 50/50, (less shine)

-woolite 6:1 for carpets

-orange blast

-eagle one a2z

-eagle one wet tire shine

-rainx glass cleaner (might need some better)

-the absorber

-megs gold class clear coat liguid wax (probably get some nxt)

-got interior carpet brushes, dusting brushes

-have a 5 hp 4gal. ridgid vacuum

-eagle one neverdull (makes old metals look new, but just don't make them shine like i want them too, need some suggestions)

need some suggestions on

-Something to make the metals shine up nicely (mostly chrome and aluminum.)

-Wax, but ill probably just go with nxt.

-plastic polish

-vinyl and rubber dressing (probably buy mothers back to black for exterior trim, and i have the armorall 50/50 with water, so might not need anything else)

-glass (im going to get stoners , they have it at wally world)'

-for the wax, i have a craftsman polisher (can afford pc yet), what kind of bonnets should i get, terry, foam, wool, the actual wax applicator, and should i just wipe of the wax with a clean microfiber or cloth, or should I just is the polisher to take if off too, and what bonnet should i use for that?

Sorry for the long post, but i'd appreciate all the input on what im missing or should change?

I would just suggest applying the wax by hand. You run the risk of messing up the paint with that craftsman if you don't know how to use it. All it is really going to do is speed up the wax job by a few minutes. Machines are best used for swirl removal and paint cleaning. Since that isn't on the bill here, you are better off just waxing by hand. Never learn how to use a tool on a customer's car. If you do something wrong then there is a lot of liability.

Stoner's is a good choice for glass cleaner. You could probably use that on the chrome outside the car as well. I don't really have any other suggestions for it. If you are trying to remove rust or brighten damaged chrome then I am sure there are other products you would use, but since this is just a cleaning job I think using the Invisible Glass on it would work out fine. I've been using it on chrome for years without a problem.

I don't have any suggestions for plastic polish. I do, however, have a resource site for you. ww.OCDetails.com has been my pet project for awhile. Everytime I get asked a question that has a 6 page answer I wish that I just had somewhere I could direct people to. That site has lots of product suggestions and process ideas. Its just one guy's way of doing things, but you might like some of the tips there and they might make your job go a little easier.

Good luck with the job! Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you. How much are you charging the guy for it?

a good otc precleaner wax would be the meguiars deep crystal (step 1). for the metal, something you could try would be the nxt gen metal polish (i think its new, and i have not tried it, but all the nxt generation products from meguiars have not been disappointing... so i have good expectations for it) as far as pads, im not sure... hope the lil info i provided helps tho

thanks, i have been thinking of buying the deep crystal cleaner and polish, but i think ill go and try it now, it's not that expensive at all..... THanks NavindraLR
