Hey guys i have been snooping round autopia for some time now and have been in deatiling for about 5 yrs i have been working at a dealership UGH!! but i have come to an agreement with the general mang. and would like to have some advice from you guys... The deal is i bring in vechiles from the public and dont have to worrie about the lot or any cars to do with the dealership more less contracting work for the dealership and they do all the advertising and buy all the supplies and i use there building and i get 40% of the money made and the pricing is $90 for a car and $100 for suvs and trucks with buffing just $50 more but again i would like to have some advice on this.

Are you going to be a dealership employee, or contractor? What advertising are they going to do to promote the detailing. Is the 40% off the gross receipts or profit?

I don't think it's a good idea. Your going to be spending the same amount of time doing the same car, but getting paid not even half of what you would if you were advertising on your own and using your own products. Secondly, if your good, you can charge almost double that. I've looked into doing something along those lines for the winter, but I've never brought myself to do it. I look at it as a waste of my time.

I wouldn't do it, but if you were, go for more like 60% of gross profit and you are on their payroll so they cover taxes and assume liability.
