I just purchased a PC 7424 and this Pad kit http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?ref=exceldetail&ct=29307 I have all of the ones shown on there.....I also have Klasse AIO, SG, NXT, S100, Collinite for my detailing products.....I want to really polish my car...I have a Silvermist Grand Prix GTP....My plans are to use the AIO first then SGx3 and top it with S100...My question is which pads should i use for each thing and at what speed for the PC....I am very new to the PC and want to do it right...Let me know Please...thank you

AIO isn't going to cut nearly enough...it's only a cleaner polish. Get yourself some Optimum Compound and Optimum Polish to really prep the surface.

The blue Propel pad works well with AIO. You can use the grey finishing pad with your LSP (Collinite, NXT). I've never used SG, so I'm not sure how best it should be applied by PC. I'm sure other will chime in ...

In terms of polish, AIO is really more of a chemical cleaner and not an abrasive polish. If your car's paint is in great shape, you really shouldn't need more than what you have. If there's swirls or other marring, you'll need to go with an abrasive polish, and you'll find lots of recommendations here. I've used Megs #80 for lighter marring ... it works well and can be purchased over the counter. I've also used PB's SSR 2.5 for situations where the marring was more significant. PB's products can be purchased online. There's also been a lot of good chatter about Optimum polish and compound ... relatively inexpensive, purchased online, and nice results, but I haven't used them ... yet :)

I use Propel pads too.

Grey: Wax and LSP (NXT, S100, Collinite wax)

Blue: Cleaners and glazes (AIO, Meg's DC#1, Meg's #7)

Green: Light and Medium swirl removers (PB SSR2.5, SSR1)

Yellow: Medium swirl and cutting (PB SSR2.5, SSR3)

Why top the 3 coats of SG with S100? Why not just top AIO with the S100. Topping the Sg with S100 means that you have to all the way back to AIO before any more coats of the SG. If you like the look of S100 and do not mind recoating every 4 to 8 weeks just top the AIO with S100.

where can you buy #80?

Try your local NAPA auto store. If they don't have it, they can usually get it. You can also check an autobody supply store in your Yellow Pages.

Another option is to see if anyone has a sample they'll either sell or trade. Check this thread.

Doesn't 3 coats of SG last a long time? Looks like it would last the whole year as long as you keep adding a coat S100 every 2-3 months.

SG does last along time. But by putting S100 on top of it you are taking away from its longevity for the sake of looks. once you top SG you will have to continue to top it or use AIO before more SG. SG will not bond well to S100.

The SG is applied after the aio, so it bonds to the aio. After the SG is cured he can wax with the s100. The s100 will go on fine, the SG does not bond to it. S100 is a pure carnuba and will go onto of the SG with no problems. Just reapply the S100 very often.

what zippy is saying is when it comes time to re-apply SG you will not be able to you layer it with S100 on top or anything else other than SG .

You will have to strip the sg and re-apply . no one said s100 won't layer onto the SG correctly

Zippy said that the SG will not bond to the S100, and that it will take away from the longevity. I was just saying if 98slvrgtp wanted to top with s100, it would be fine. There would be no bonding issues, because the SG will bond to the aio and cure. 98slvrgtp never said anything about reapplying later, he said he would aio, then SG x3, then top with s100.
