Need some advice...

My PC goes to 7...
I recently put over 7.5 million coats of SG on my car, but unfortunately I forgot to wipe them off between coats! Here is a pic of me attempting to remove them...

Seriously, I found this pic on the Drudgereport. It's from Buffalo, NY. I hope this guy switches to something other than a broom when he finally gets down to the paint!

Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D

That guy needs to pay more attention to the "no parking. dumping zone" signs in front of the local flour factory. LOL

Why bother clean the snow off your car when the roads are covered with 2 feet of snow!!? Cars need to hibernate in the Winter....

Can we outlaw images or text pertaining to snow???? Make mne feel all cold and such. Do like the snow birds and travel south for the winter!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

good job Dave, see Klasse doesn't darken paint, it makes it white ;) haha

we're used to scenes like that here in the snow belt :)

I'm planing on buying a Buffer/Polisher soon and I really care take good consideration to your opinion so here's my question:

Which Buffer/Polisher should I get (Professional since is for business)?
I was thinking in the DeWalt DW849.
What are your reviews on that?

Lucian,
I have never used a rotary, but I have read only great things about the Makita 9227. Sorry I really don't know much about the DeWalt.

Very good choice in a buffer, much better quality than a Makita. Also the Dewalt has more torque than most other rotaries and that is what you want in a rotary. Other rotaries to look at would be Dynabrade, Milwaukee, and Fein.

If you are going for a rotary I would go with the Makita 9227c. Not only is fairly light, about 20% less then a DeWalt, but it also has 20% more power/torque as well!!!

The truth is that all of the modern rotaries have enough power to spin a 7 inch pad at 1500-1600 under load, so power is almost a non-issue, but in terms of ergonomics and power, it is really hard to beat the Makita.

Your best bet is to try a couple different machines and fine the one that fits you best. Polishing paint is as much an art form as it is science, so you will often get the best results with the machine that fits you best!

Love the DeWalt DW849.

As for the extra weight... man-UP! :Boxing:

Just kidding on the man-up part.
Lots of guys love that darned Makita. It's lighter and smaller, but its got that evil soft start feature. Another plus to the Makita- a low of 600 RPM vs 1000 RPM for the DeWalt.

Not a big deal... a swap to a smaller diameter pad and VOILA! DeWalt MPH is slowed.

I also suggest you try both if you can.

Do you already own a random orbital?

I own a Neiko that costed me around $80 only so, no big deal. But that's my personal one. I'm in the process of going completly into the detailing business and I want something good and reliable for it since I care a LOT about doing a good job and a great service to costumers. I'm also buying a PC wich I have different use for it. I really like the DeWalt for his features but I haven't used one.

PS. I'm used to heavy Polishers so weights is not actually a problem for me. Mine is around 8 pounds and it doesn't bother me at all
