Need some advice for a 1989 car...

I have a 1989 Mecury Cougar XR7. It has a single stage white paint job. The paint has a fair bit of oxidation, some scuffs and some water spots but overall it is in decent condition. I am looking to use a power orbital polisher to get rid of the oxidation and water spots. What products would you guys recommend for this? I have heard good things about P21S and einszett products but they are kinda hard to find. I currently use Zaino for the waxing step. Basically if you guys could recommend some steps I should take and which products are best I would appreciate it.

Thanks

You should start by downloading the autopia e-book. Well worth the $10.

You are going to have to get somewhat aggressive to remove the oxidation. I like using Meguiars Body Shop Pro line. I had to use several products on this white 1989 Taurus.

Clearkote's Blue Moose (a very aggressive compound that isn't yet available, but Meguiars Diamond Cut or Medium Cut would work), Meguiars DACP #83, Swirl Free #82, Clearkote's Vanilla Moose and Poorboy's EX-P and a few hours later and I ended up with this:

Chaotic -- Here are the steps I used to restore the finish on an early 1980's Mustang with single-stage black paint. Basically, a Porter-Cable 7424 random-orbital polisher with various pads, Meguiar's "professional" polishes in varying intensiites, finishing up with a couple coats of wax.

Thanks for the welcome :D

I have been reading here for over a year, just took a while to register (Dec) and post. :nixweiss

I guess will order some VM as I have all my other "products" that I like except a decent glaze.

That and the Cyclo has been calling my name :bow
