I'm giving a quote on Thursday for a interior detail on a large RV like satellite van for the Weather Channel. They say its 26 feet with carpet thru out the vehicle including the walls. Not sure but this things probally been running around New Orleans and is probally filthy. Any one have any ideas on how to price this one. I know I should just charge my hourly rate but they want a price up front and I have no idea how long this will take me. Any ideas?

I wouldn't quote a price with out seeing the condition of it for yourself . It sounds like an all day job .

I would consider a per foot charge. $5.25 per foot to $7.00 per foot.

that's way low. at $7/ft w/ 26ft that's $182. For interior and exterior on a potentially super filthy van I'd go with a minimum rate and just leave it open for yourself to be able to charge more. If you're only cleaning it and not really polishing alot, it wouldn't take that long.. I'd just be worreid about the interior mostly if it's totally trashed. Good luck.

I'd charge an hourly rate. Depending on what it needs, you could be looking at 10-15 hours of work. Two step on a 26' studio truck for Channel 11 here took my son and I 6 hours and I charged $300 and that was just the exterior.

Had to work on it at night since I was booked up during the day. The changed their logo and wanted it polished out before putting the new ones on. Definitely had been neglected. I ended up using Protect All's gelcoat compound (forget the exact name) and Poorboy's EX w/carnauba. Crappy pic, took it under their parking lot lighting at around 2 am.

The post says interior only.

Thanks guys for the replies, the job ended up being easier than expected. Interior was hard floor and carpeted walls, took me about 4 hours including the cab and charged them an hourly rate. They want me to come back and do the rest of the trucks at a later date. :bounce
