Need Help!! Please Overspray question

Hi everyone...boy its nice to be back..I was really bumming with the forum down...Anyhow, recently I had my car keyed and have since taken it to the body shop. I have 2 questions I would like to get your advice/opinion on.

1. Here is where I need the HELP: I have TINTED windows on my Volvo...The body shop seems to have shot some overspray on the INSIDE of the windows...not bad but a slight hazing and gritty feel. How can I get it off?...I was thinking of a gentle clay with soap and water as the lube?...but not sure how the tint will react...Is there any other suggestions or should I give it a try?..I am calling them tomorrow to let them know of the overspray.

2. What would you do?..The body shop is giving me a complementary detail in a month after my paint cures on the 2 doors.....I use Klasse and all the good stuff...Should I let them detail the whole car or just the doors they painted so they can inspect their work and all of that?..I dont trust them on the whole car..I would have to re-detail after they are done anyway.

Thanks for all your help...I really need help on this tint thing......I HATE OVERSPRAY.

I would decline the free detail if it was my decision, but that’s really up to you. As for the windows, I don't think I have ever heard of that. Can you see the over spray or just feel it? Photograph it if you can see it, and let the body shop know about it too. I would expect them to pay for a re-tint if your removal efforts are unsuccessful.

You might be facing a new tinting job. Window film is pretty fragile, I would imagine that clay will probably marr the crap out of it. Solvents can't be used because they can discolor the film and possibly begin to eat away at the film itself.

Make them aware of the problem and make sure they know it's possible they will have to pay to re-tint the windows. You can give the clay a shot but don't be shocked if it ruins the film.

I'd suggest declining the detail and at the same time explaining the overspray/tint problem. I would let the shop tackle this problem (and ultimately be responsible for the outcome). You apparently have selected the only autobody shop in the world that would apply finish with a door or window open!

its not all over the window..thank god...but the overspray is found around the borders or the periphery of the windows
