Need help finding thread...

It seems my one and only thread on this forum has disappeared. A little more than a year ago, I joined the forum to ask whether or not I should take delivery of my new G37 coupe that had been "scratched" by the dealership's new car prep people. I included a few pictures of the damage and the general consensus of the forum was that I should pass on the car. So that's what I did. Now I wanted to update the thread, but I can't find it. Actually, I can't find any of my old posts, but that's probably because they were all contained in that particular thread.

Did the forum get hacked or something? I can't see why the thread would be intentionally deleted...

Not sure why this happened or why you are only showing 1 post to your name, but actually have several? I will forward this to Ben so he can look into.

Here's your thread btw:

Thanks. When I click on the hyperlink to the thread, it comes back as invalid. Can anyone else see the thread?

Me too - so what happened?

Well, a few people on the forum told me to pass on the car because of the damage to the finish. It wasn't horrible, but the point is that it should have never happened in the first place. I didn't really want to start out with a brand new car that needed that kind of paint correction in the first place. I was torn because I had ordered that car and waiting a long time for it. The car is a 6-speed manual transmission and nobody seem to keep them in inventory, so I had no choice but to order it and wait.

Anyway, I did get my happy ending. I was so disappointed with the way the Infiniti dealer treated me that I decided to look at some other cars. One car that always caught my eye was the Audi A5. It costs a little more than the G37, but I've always loved the way the Audi looks on the road. After one test drive (yes, an Audi dealer actually had a 6-speed manual to test drive) I was sold on the car. But again I had to place an order and wait because I wanted the car with specific options and specific exterior & interior finishes.

This time, I told the dealer that I wanted to take delivery of the car without any dealer prep at all. I wanted it wrapped up just the way it comes off the truck. They told me "no problem" and that they've delivered new cars like that in the past. The day the car was delivered, they kept their promise and kept it in the wrappers. I drove it home like that, unwrapped it (I felt like a kid at Christmas!), and gave it a complete detail job inside and out. Well, maybe I shouldn't say a complete detail job. After washing the exterior and examining the paint, I decided to just apply a sealant (Blackfire Wet Diamond) and then I also ended up applying a layer of S1000 just for the heck of it. The paint was virtually flawless....and I think Audi must deliver their vehicles in enclosed trucks because there wasn't really much dirt on the car at all. No fallout, rail dust, etc... just clean and blemish-free paint.

It's been almost a year since I've had my Audi and the paint still looks flawless. My goal is to keep it free of swirls for as long as possible. Here's a pic of the car the day I picked it up from the dealership:

And here's how it looked a week later, after window tint:

And here's a more recent picture after a quick wash in the driveway:

I'm really happy with this car. If the Infiniti dealer didn't mess up the paint on the G37 (and then treat me so badly afterwards), I probably never would have even seriously look at the Audi....so I guess sometimes things work out for the better!

The Infiniti dealer did you a favor, the A5 is awesome.

So what ever happened to my original thread?

And why are my pictures all cut off on the right side? Does anyone see the full pictures?

I see full pictures

Why can't I see the full pictures? The pictures look cut off on the right hand side and I have a vertical column of ads on the right side of my screen. Is there a way to get rid of those ads? Maybe then the pictures wouldn't be cut off on my screen.

I think you can click the ad to go away

Nope. That just opens the ad. My pictures are still cut off. Surely there must be someone who knows why that's happening, no?

can you take a cell phone picture and post it?

Below are two screen shots (reduced in size) to show you what I see on my monitor. Notice the vertical advertisements on the right side of the screen. I have three of them in a row, and then there's nothing but blank white space as I scroll down further. And of course if you look at my second screen shot, you can clearly see that my picture is cut off even though the ads end further up the screen.
