Hello guys!

I have had a Black Cadillac CTS-V for about a year now. The paint on the car is pretty bad. You can see the swirl marks from a mile away. It also looks like they're pretty deep too.

I've taken the car to get detailed and what not and they only cover most of the scratches for a few days and then comes back. I would try to wash and wet sand the car myself but, I don't have the time and knowledge to do it.

I'm located in Downey, CA

Feel free to post in this thread or pm me.

Thanks,

Gilbert

I've gotten the car glazed, clayed, waxed, sealed, and washed and it just covers up the scratches.

Why are you convinced you need wetsanding? Many pro shops use one step products that hide swirls instead of removing them. Have you tried a good compound on them yet. If you wetsand, you will be substancially lessening the life of the paint, and might even get to the primer in some areas. Can you feel the swirl marks with your fingernail?

I'm convinced that I need color sanding because of the depth of the marks. I can feel them with my fingernail. Hopefully i'm wrong and don't need the car to get sanded.

It's been my experiance that you will get better results searching body shops for a good wetsand instead of a detailer. Body shops wetsand after every paint job, and detailers do it very rarely and most not at all. Good luck.

I'll try my best to find one. Some kids threw a egg on my car a few months ago and now I have painful round mark of the paint. Would touch up be enough to cover up the mark?

I second that recommendation. Joe's work blows away anything I've ever seen from a body shop and he won't screw it up with the cut and buff either.

Yes, I agree on Supershine if you are not going to do it yourself. Wetsanding a clear coat car is risky at best, you can quickly remove the cleacoat in spots and then it will never shine. Also you are removing the UV protection that clearcoats have. I've never seen swirls that were so bad that you couldn't remove them with a rotary and a medium or light polish, I think you just went to the wrong place to have it done.

Lastly, what caused these swirls, you need to find out and stop doing that.

Another vote for Joe. :xyxthumbs

Since you’re in the neighborhood (pretty close anyway) you should also sign up for one of Meguiar’s detailing classes in Irvine. The issues you have now will need to be corrected by a pro but in class you’ll learn how to do routine maintenance and keep them from happening again.
