Natty's Blue over OS??

Hey guys,

I did a car this weekend (will post pics later) and had some issues with swirling while I was removing AW. I had polished the paint and was ecstatic with the results! This thing was So spiderwebbed and the owner really wanted it as close to perfect as I could get it. I achieved probably 97% swirl free on this thing and was very proud of myself.

So I topped it was OS and walked away. The next morning I walked out to the garage to give it a second look and noticed that there was some dust on the car. I grabbed a couple of Danase super plush blue MF's and dusted the car. Swirl city! Everywhere I drug the MF's there were very light swirls. Now these towels are the softest things I have ever felt and it really surprised me that they were aggressive enough to swirl the paint. So I grabbed some of the GG polishing towels I have had for a while and they did the same thing. I was not a happy camper at all!

The customer was coming to pick up the car and I didn't have time to run a quick polish on it again so I hit it with some Natty's Blue in hopes of filling in some of the swirl marks. This was the single worst thing I have ever done as a detailer. These two products DO NOT play well together at all!! I rubbed and rubbed and just couldn't get the car to not look "smudged". The whole thing looked like I hadrubbed WD40 all over it.

Has anyone else tried to put anything on over OS? I am really happy with the other cars I have put OS on and the only reason I did what I did was to hide some swirls. It's not something I will ever do again. But am still trying to figure out if this is why the car looks "smudged". Thanks for the help!!

Thanks Danny! I am going to have to strip it back down and will probalby just throw some #16 on it and call it good! #16 has never let me down....hehehee......I just think that Natty's isn't mixing well with the OS....Thanks again!!

I used product X under OS and will never do it again. Since product X has a lot of oils it the OS smudged it all over and for someone reason showed the swirls the product X had covered. When I use prod x under wax that does not happen.

I'm guessing it would be the same with RMG under OS?

Sorta irrelevant to your case but just wanted to relate the (bad) experience...

FWIW, yesterday I did CS and immediatly followed with a coat of NB. I used Z6 after CS, then NB followed by Z6 and had no problems. It looked great.

Did you do a wipe with a QD after the OS? I found that if I didn't wipe with a QD it wouldn't apply right, but after a qd, all was good. HTH.
